What more can we ask for?

It's the last day of July, which means it's the last for my #Mani marathon. Today I would love to introduce to you all the Sally Hansen Color Frenzy collection. The shades pictured above (from right to left) is "Red, White & Hue" and "Fruit Spritz". This is yet another limited edition collection specifically for this summer which is available in a total of 8 multi-colored shades.

Above is a swatch of "Red, White & Hue". I used a blue polish as a base to layer. I thought of these polishes as top coats since their bases are mostly clear with a hint of color and leaves lots of shine. I would suggest layering any color polish if you really want to make them pop. My only problem with these polishes is trying to actually achieve the splatter effect. I only used one coat and had to make tons of strokes to move around the glitters but you'll have to move quickly. Drying time will vary according to how many coats are on your nails. I would advise not to do anything with your hands for at least five minutes after applying the Color Frenzy as it will smudge easily.

Lastly is "Fruit Spritz". I really liked this because it's so peachy and fun (which is sort of why I used a coral polish as a base). If you didn't notice, I had an even harder time creating a splatter effect with this one since the glitter particles are slightly bigger in size. I didn't want to use too many coats otherwise it would have given my nails a sort of "heavy" look because boy is that polish thick! Although the effects are supposed to be random, it will be a trial and error process to maintain the look you really want.

Overall I still had a fun time with these polishes and I'm actually thinking about checking out my local Target store to see if I can stock up on a few more shades before they're completely out of stock for the summer. If you're interested in trying them for yourself, you can find the Sally Hansen Color Frenzy collection at chain drug stores, food stores, and mass merchandisers nationwide for $5.99 each! Remember, limited time only so don't wait too long!

The Jamberry Nail wraps I received (from left to right) is "Orchid Bouquet" and a "August StyleBox Exclusive" which features a radiant array of orchid tints and tones.

There is just so much to do with your nails!

Today I would like to introduce to you all the Sally Hansen ColorFoil collection. The shades pictured above (from right to left) is "Titanium Flush" and "Purple Alloy". This collection is limited edition, available in 10 trendsetting shades, and a total summer must have!

Above is a swatch of "Titanium Flush" without a base coat or top coat. It's best to use the formula on your bare nails to achieve the high shine and reflective finish. I used two coats to get a more vibrant color even though one was actually enough. I was glad it still had the mirror shine and drying time was in a snap. My only dislike was the consistency. At first it seemed to apply as a silvery chrome color but with a couple more shakes to the bottle and a second attempt the fuchsia pink was revealed! The finish is a wonderful aluminium-y surface but you have to be very careful. Any flaws on your nails will be exposed using this collection which is absolutely ok. I can admit that I'm not perfect.

Secondly is "Purple Alloy". This color has a slightly darker purple look in person so do not let my picture deceive you. I used two coats again even though one was clearly enough (I just am so used to double coating). I do recommend shaking the bottle really good to get an even distribution of color. Drying time was flash once again which is great if you tend to end up with smudges often.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed these! They're definitely not my typical everyday polishes but I don't mind mixing it up a bit. I do like that the bottles are not clear and represent the color of the polish. You can find the Sally Hansen ColorFoil collection at chain drug stores, food stores and mass merchandisers nationwide for $7.99 each! Remember, they're only available for a limited time so stock up now! :)

#ManiMonday Starring Jamberry Nails

Angela McKinney, a lovely friend of my mom who just happened to be a Jamberry Independent Consultant offered me to do a review for Jamberry Nails! I've of course heard of their awesome nail wraps and decided that I would be up for giving it a shot. Above are the two designs that I chose to review. On the right is "Faded Deco" and on the left is "Pickled Paisley". It was really hard to choose just two designs since they were so many to choose from!

I decided to try the "Faded Deco" (pictured above) first since it was my favorite out of the two. The clear sheet backing was a big help to choosing the right size for each nail. I was excited to know that these nail wraps can last up to two weeks which is a great amount of time since my regular polish doesn't seem to last that long. Of course before I jumped right into it I reread the application instructions at least three times and watched the video step by step. I wanted these to turn out perfect so that they'll have a chance to last the full two weeks. I typically don't have the hardest time applying nail wraps but I soon learned that these are not your ordinary nail wraps.

It was a time consuming process that required many steps which at first seemed easy but turned out to be the complete opposite. The one step I disliked the most was the "heating" process. These are not your normal "peel off and stick on" kind of nail wraps. They require a heat source from either a mini heater or blow dryer for at least 3-5 seconds before applying directly on your nail bed.

Now a lot of mistakes happened along the way which I can sort of blame myself for since this was my first time. My nail wraps weren't sticking well to my nails after heating so they couldn't last and I ended up having to peel them off and try again with the sizes I had remaining.

I definitely learned from my mistakes and will most likely update with you guys again using my second design choice. Next time I will surely try to heat the wraps much longer than the recommended time frame to not end up with the results pictured above. At $15 per nail wrap sheet, it's a bit pricey to waste but I gotta admit that the designs are exclusive and the variety is amazing. You probably won't find designs like these anywhere else. They also have a nice shine that sort of looks as if I'm wearing top coat but I'm totally not!

If you're an expert with all things nails then I highly recommend to give these a try. I've seen other nail critics whose nail wraps turned out near perfect. Now of course I don't fall in that category so if you're a beginner like me, expect a couple of mistakes or two (if you're lucky), and maybe even a wasted sheet of nail wraps.

I believe that there are things out there that a worth trying at least once so I won't hesitate to say give these a try! You might like them and have a much more successful manicure than me! Interested? You can check out Angela McKinney's website for Jamberry Nails! :)

Woo!

Come get it bae

It's already the last Monday of July! Can you believe it? I sure can't! The countdown for back to school is inching closer and closer. While I can admit to being a bit excited, I'm also a bit nervous since this won't just be an ordinary first day of school. It'll be my first day of college and living in a new city. I think I'll grow into it without a problem. At least I really hope so!

I also hope today's music Monday isn't much of a surprise. This song has sort of been stuck in my head this past weekend so I thought I'd share it. The music video is still a bit new to the public. I was sort of confused at first when watching it for the first time but after awhile I thought it was just kind of funny and even a bit inspirational. Enjoy! :)

College Shopping: Target Style!

So, I may have been busy...shopping!

Yes people! That time of the year is already almost here. It's time to get your college (or school) shopping on. I tend to like to shop a bit earlier than most to beat the rush and crazy checkout lines. Can you blame me? Now I know most deals kick in closer to the deadline but it's not so bad to get what you need at maybe a dollar or two more earlier on. Usually there isn't a guarantee that you'll catch the later sale since so many people typically tend to shop around that same time. It would suck if the product you really wanted went out of stock while you were waiting for that sale. Usually that happens to me and I get so aggravated.

However, today I took a stroll into my local Target because I noticed that they were having a pretty great sale on a massive variety of dorm (twin XL) bedding. I didn't want to commit to doing a huge shopping here as there are still other places out there but I decided that it wouldn't hurt to look around and maybe even pick up a few things.

Their college shop was already up and most items were going so fast since the prices were pretty low. I decided to make this a blog post for those of you who may have a Target nearby. Sales are usually happening weekly so I'm sure something may come up that you may find at a really great price.

I mean c'mon! You can't really beat $16 comforters!

Or $14.99 sheet sets!

After noticing these really great deals I couldn't help getting a couple of things that were on my checklist to CSU-Pueblo. There's a slight chance that I ended up getting way more than what was necessary but at those prices I didn't think it was a bad idea. It's definitely a good idea to shop smart. It's something I highly recommend to anyone. Now I'm not an expert since this is only my first year of college that I'll be starting but so far, retailers such as Target doesn't seem like such a bad idea to get started with. Especially if you like to save money and still have quality and style, I don't see a problem with that at all!

How are you getting ready for the new school year?

For Everything You Need + Nothing You Don't

I received this product for review purposes

"I wanted something that didn't exist...so I made it myself." - Tiffany Masterson, founder

Introducing Drunk Elephant, the luxury skincare line that gets the job done.

When shopping around for skincare products I have the tendency to pick one up and ask myself, "will this really work?" It's a habit that I'm sure most of us have as it can be very frustrating to actually find that "miracle" product. Don't worry, solutions are out there!

Drunk Elephant is a company who formulates efficient products with ingredients that you need and keeps away from those that you don't. Point, blank. What's better than not having animal fats, mineral oil, and artificial fragrance (just to name a few) on your face and body? A product that looks and smell like its ingredients of course. Yes, there's actually a company out there who's looking out for you!

Pictured above I'll be introducing the wonderful T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

This night serum is not your traditional serum. It's almost weightless at the slightest touch. This is a product where the phrase "a little goes a long way" is effectively accurate. T.L.C. Framboos is a hydrating gel that is used to gently lift dead skin cells away. The bonus: fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and other signs of aging will decrease along with excess oiliness, acne and the appearance of pores. The results: greater clarity, smoother texture, and increased collagen formation. Miracle product anyone?!

So far when using this product on my skin, I knew I'd stick with it mainly for one reason. No breakouts! As you all may know, I have annoying sensitive skin that will breakout to almost anything. Luckily this product can be used on all skin types due to the ingredients that Drunk Elephant carefully chose. I don't really have much acne anymore thankfully but I did notice that my skin had a softer touch in the morning. I felt as if I had baby smooth skin and I typically don't wake up every morning feeling that way. I do however have a few acne scars and dark spots that I'd love to get rid of. With this 12% glycolic serum and "dream team" of AHA's, I'm looking forward to achieving a much smoother complexion.

This product is one that I would recommend to splurge on but not something you'd necessarily need multiples of as it is on the pricier side ($90 per bottle). The size is only 1 fl oz but remember "a little goes a long way". I literally only needed half to one pump maximum of the serum to evenly cover my entire face. It absorbs quickly too so you won't go to bed feeling greasy. Currently Drunk Elephant has six products available for purchase and many more in the making that you can check out by clicking here. I'm certainly eyeing that JuJu Bar, *hint hint*, wishlist!

Have you ever tried a product from Drunk Elephant?

Summer Haul! II

Are you ready for the...

I sure hope so! July is quickly coming to an end and I didn't want the rest of the summer to be a complete bore. That's when I figured, hey, I think I have the budget to spoil you all once more before the summer ends. :)

Of course I had a hard time deciding on what I can actually give away as my budget did not consist of the entire world. Luckily with the help of a few friends, I figured it out! Why not give away two things (instead of one) that I loved and shared on my blog this summer. And of course that was easy, I decided on an H&M giftcard because I know I mention H&M a lot around here. What can I say? They have like the cutest clothes ever and they're so reasonably priced that I can guarantee you'll enjoy shopping there. (Don't worry if you don't have a location nearby, you can shop online)!

For the second half I decided on something slightly different. I wanted this one to be more of a surprise. So whats better than a gift subscription to...BIRCHBOX! I enjoyed my time with Birchbox when I had the chance with all of the lovely samples (and even a few full sized products) so I hope one of you lucky readers will too.

With that being said...I, Krissy Deane, will not let you have a boring summer!

Enter for a chance to win!

Giveaway is open to residents of the U.S. and the winner will be chosen randomly by PunchTab.

The winner will have 48 hours to respond to the email sent by PunchTab or a new winner will be announced. Good luck to you all!

What memories did you create this summer?

It's Monday...Again!

We're living the life

Oh how can I almost forget about music Monday! Shame on me!

Anyway, I've been thinking a lot about plans and upgrades that I would love to see happen in my future and the future of this blog. I move in to my dorm in literally a month so I'm super excited about that. I really want to up my game with blogging and possibly look into a new makeover as a new start. I really want this to be bigger and better than my previous one. Of course there has to be lots of customs since being one of a kind is best. Also a new Macbook Pro because what's better than blogging on a new laptop? I still want to continue the lifestyle trend but I also want to get a bit more personal with the fashion and beauty side of it. I've been looking into becoming a Teen Vogue "Fashion Click Blogger" lately and the idea of it all makes me eager. Of course I'll have to buy some time before I can actually indulge in all of these changes but I just wanted to share with you all what I was thinking. Maybe you'll start to see some changes soon!

Back to music Monday! I hope you all have already heard this song because it's just so fun to listen to. I decided to share the lyric video instead of the music video mainly because of all of the cakes. I absolutely love cake, and frosting, and o-m-g. You'll see what I mean once you watch it for yourself. Enjoy! :)

#OOTD

It's always a good a day for a super cute outfit!

So remember that marvelous sale that H&M and Missguided were having about a week ago? Well it's still going on and it's even better at this moment! I also told myself that I wouldn't take part since I needed to save my money but I just couldn't help it. It was nearly too good to pass up. And then I figured, hey, I might as well share at least one outfit with you guys too. Can't pass up an #OOTD post!

Now both pieces of the outfit pictured above are from H&M. I know it sort of comes off as if I ONLY shop at H&M, but it's not like that all (only a little). They've been my favorite place to shop at since I was a kid and they're literally located all over NYC. The price I paid for this outfit is so ridiculous that I still can't even believe it myself. If you're thinking $20+, you're wrong! See why I couldn't pass up on their sale?

Now to the outfit details!

First off, the tank is pretty basic which was what I was aiming for when I first saw it. The material is rayon so it's pretty soft and lightweight which is perfect for this season. However the ruffles are made out of an airy woven fabric so there's a contrast between the two which adds simple detailing. The shoulder straps are very narrow so it can be a great tank to staple or layer with almost anything.

Now I instantly fell in love with the skirt. Remember: anything floral or pink literally brightens my day. It's made out of the same airy woven fabric as the ruffles on the tank but don't worry, there's much more material so it's not like translucent. It's completely pleated throughout which I consider as a detail. Also the waistband is elasticized so you can pull it up to give it that "it looks like I'm wearing a dress, but I'm totally not" look. Bonus!

Now the shoes are from Missguided which is a popular online shop in the U.K. They also have a U.S./Canada version of their website where you can score free standard shipping on your purchase so of course I had to check them out. Sadly at the time of my purchase the shoes were not on sale but I thought they were the cutest retro looking shoes ever so I had to have them! They're platform sandals which I love since I hate walking on my toes. They're a bit under three inches so they're not insanely high and are actually really comfortable. I believe that the straps are faux leather and the soles sort of feel like a super thick styrofoam but the good part is...they don't feel cheap. I also love that the entire shoe is all one color which was perfect and gave it that mod look.

What do you guys think? Love it or hate it?

P.S. - H&M is currently having a sale up to 75% off and Missguided up to 50% off! I repeat...SALE! :)

Listen up ladies!

What do you think is the worst part about being a lady? Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I'm definitely thinking "that time of the month'. And yes, I'm heading in that direction. It's time for that kind of talk today. I promise it'll end well! :)

So I'll start off with a bit about myself. You all know that I'm a total girly city girl right? Well if you didn't, now you do! Anything pink or floral will make me instantly happy. My favorite stores are Tiffany & Co and H&M (very big contrast there). I love to indulge in a really good book/magazine on a lazy day. I also can't forget about my love for my undies. I decide on which pair I'll wear as if I'm assembling an #OOTD. There's the "favorite", "super cute", "glam", and we all can't forget about that "ultra comfy" pair that we absolutely adore and can't live without. With that being said, it would be such a shame if Aunt Flo came to town unexpectedly and completely ruined your awesome pair of undies. Not only would that suck, it also sort of breaks my heart a little when perfect pairs are totally ruined. :(

Well no need to worry anymore!

It's time to save the undies with U by Kotex! Let me start by saying that U by Kotex offers a full line of feminine care products for periods including pads, liners and tampons. The protection is outstanding that will keep you one step ahead of dear old Aunt Flo. It's time we stop saying "rest in peace" to our favorite undies and kick Aunt Flo's butt to the curb.

In the picture above I'm introducing the all new U by Kotex CleanWear Ultra Thin Regular Pads with 3D Capture Core, a one-of-a-kind center that locks away wetness to help stop leaks. Definitely not your ordinary pad. No self-consciousness here! And check out that super cute packaging. :)

Want to give them a try? Well today is your lucky day! Visit the U by Kotex landing page and find the samples that best fit your mission to save the undies. Click the "Get Sample" button and enter your mailing information. Then, sit back and wait, your samples will be on their way!

Ipsy - July 2014

I was so excited when my Ipsy glam bag showed up yesterday! This month I tried to check out all of the sneak peeks and was siked when I noticed that a lot of my favorite brands were featured in this month's bag. Speaking of the glam bag, how cute is that frilly pink thing! This month's theme is "Sensationally Sunkissed". Check it out!

What a wonderful month! Of course there is that one product that I completely dislike and is just not a fit for me but everything else is great. This month I received approximately $45 worth of products. Surprisingly only one full size item this month but the other samples are generously sized so no complaints here for only $10 a month.

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08
Lavilin Jojoba Gel Cream
Elizabeth Moss Tints & Sass in Cherry
Benefit They're Real! Mascara
bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in Divine Wine

Ok, I'll just start off by dismissing the one product that totally turned me off from my glam bag. Tanning Oil. So not for me. I'm big on sunscreen and protecting my skin and I'm also a woman of color so no tanning here for me!

Next in line is the jojoba gel cream. I've never heard of this brand before so it's always great to try something new. I tested it first on my hands and it's a really soft cream that smooths and hydrates your skin. It has a light scent of jojoba seed oil so nothing too distracting.

The tints & sass lip tint/stain is one that I've needed for a long time ever since I was introduced to theBalm Stainiac in my November Birchbox! I absolutely love it and the fact that it's full size means it'll last so much longer.

OMG. My favorite mascara in mini form! I remember purchasing the full size version in November of last year from Birchbox (don't mind the horrible pictures) and I loved it! I still do of course but now I'm stuck with a dried out tube that I need to toss and replace. This little one will definitely hold me over for a little while until it's time to upgrade. Highly recommend to anyone with lashes. :)

Lastly the bareMinerals eyeshadow had me a bit skeptical. I love all of the features and it's also one of my favorite brands but the color turned me off a bit. It reminded me a bit of mushy dirt. The texture/formula of the eyeshadow however was smooth and great.

Overall I had a great month this month and of course I'll be looking forward to next month's Ipsy glam bag for sure. Sign up and become a glam bag subscriber today for $10 a month! It'll be worth it. :)

Don't You Know I'm Human Too

Why you gotta be so rude

I think the Monday's are rolling in faster and faster. Sooner or later I'll be heading back to school and I'll have less time on my hands. I'm not ready for summer to be over just yet. I still want to have tons of fun!

Today's song for music Monday was more of a relaxing slow jam that I was introduced to at orientation as a favorite pick from another student. Ever since then I wasn't able to keep this song out of my head. It's really catchy and makes you want to sit back and jam out. I think that's what I'll do to enjoy the rest of my Monday. No more Monday blues and caffeine deprivation. It's a start to something new. :)

P.S. - Today is the last day to enter the "Summer Haul" giveaway! Good luck and...

Happy Monday to all!

Colorado Renaissance Festival

Hello everyone!

\

Today I did something a bit different and went to a Colorado Renaissance Festival in Larkspur, Colorado. Ok, so when I say a "bit" different I really mean "out of this world" different. I'm not typically your renaissance festival kind of gal but it was time that I checked out to see what Colorado had to offer.

Now, if anything I was more into the scenery than the festival itself. I loved the different colors, textures and decor that made this place have its vintage twist. Everyone was dressed up for the event in bizarre olden time costumes which made me feel completely out of place in my floral sundress. Even the voices and accents were all made up and enjoyable.

Pictured above is the Puke & Snot Pirate Ship stage (the figure in the picture is unreal). The performance was a good laugh even in the scorching heat. Everyone seemed to have a good time and I didn't mind that it was super crowded. More chuckles for the show!

Overall it was great to walk around and be surrounded by such a wonderful environment. Eventually I did get a bit bored because the festival itself was made up of mostly shops and venues to purchase renaissance themed products which I wasn't really into. I'm a modern girl! I also didn't try out the attractions because I felt they were for the younger ones. It was still fun to enjoy the music and shows that were put together by the employees. I wouldn't mind going another weekend just to get away from Colorado Springs. :)

What kind of fun did you have this weekend?

I was able to attend my orientation yesterday after having to reschedule due to my mom having surgery last month. I had a blast! I definitely give credit to my orientation group leader Josh. Everyone had a great time and it made me even more excited to know that I'll be living there in the matter of a few weeks!

Please excuse my hideous I.D. picture.

I'm just so excited to be able to call myself an official Thunderwolf. I was definitely not looking forward to I.D. pictures but who does? Overall the campus was great to explore once again. It was a scorching 93+ degrees out so hanging outdoors wasn't the best part to look forward to. However during the first week of classes there will be tons of activities to look forward to. Maybe I'll be able to blog about them all if I don't get sidetrack by having so much fun.

Moving in will also be exciting to look forward to. My roommate and I have tons of decorating to do since we'll be living in one of the original/oldest dorms on campus. Boo! But I'm sure we can bring it to life and make it represent us. I'm really excited to get my desk in order. It'll basically be my work space for blogging and homework so I refuse to live dully. I can't wait to get settled in!

Have a great rest of the day!

SquareHue - July 2014

I received this product for review purposes.

Hooray for Friday!

And I have a surprise for you all!

Introducing SquareHue! Literally the name says it all. SquareHue is an awesome nail polish subscription box that brings you three limited edition, full sized .50 fl oz bottles of polish to your door every month for $14.99 (plus $5 shipping to the U.S. and $9 to Canada). You'll never get the same color twice as they curate their own colors (right here in the U.S.A) for every box/theme each month. Want to know what else makes this box so awesome? Every month, a portion of all purchased subscriptions will be donated for prevention awareness, the protection of trafficked victims and the prosecution of human traffickers. As their saying goes, "Color Your Nails. Change the World".

This month's theme is "The Passport Collection" and the destination is Barcelona! This month I received two micro shimmer polishes and one shimmer in gorgeous colors that are great for this season. I instantly fell in love with the pink because, you know, I love pink! Not much of a fan of dark shades such as the dark purple that I received but it may come in handy for an occasion some day.

From left to right is "Placa Catalunya" a micro shimmer pink, "Rambla de Raval" a micro shimmer orange, and "Passeig de Gracia" a shimmer dark purple. Above I also demonstrated some swatches of the polishes on the information sheet (in order from top to bottom). These polishes are great quality and only need one to two coats max.

In my opinion this is a great subscription that I'm really thinking about investing in. I hate having bare nails/toenails and typically spend $8+ per bottle of nail polish and I own TONS of nail polishes. At $14.99 for three bottles (and a portion goes to charity) I definitely cannot go wrong with this deal. SquareHue did not let me down with their formula which is surprisingly really favorable, works just as great as most higher end polishes at a much more affordable price. Also don't you just love the packaging? Easy, bold square bottles! What can get better than that?

If you're a nail polish addict or just one who loves a fresh mani-pedi every now and then, this may be the subscription for you! And don't worry, you can suspend or pause your account at anytime. There's no hassle. Check out SquareHue today! The "Passport Collection: Beverly Hills" arrives in August. Don't miss out! :)

Who's Having A Sale?

Oh how I love a good SALE!

Especially one on an absolutely boring day like today. Sadly I haven't been able to do much shopping lately since I promised myself I would save for a new MacBook Pro for college this fall (almost there!). However I am being teased by these amazing sales going on everywhere to the point that I almost can't help myself. Just one outfit and I promise I'll be happy! I'm so jealous that you guys however can enjoy these sales. Below I listed a few that are ongoing right now at my favorite stores. Don't hesitate to help yourself!
