Discussion | #GIRLBOSS

Hello there!

September has come to a close and it's time to wrap up the selection of this month's book, #GIRLBOSS. Can you believe that it's already discussion time? Tomorrow we'll be turning the pages of a new book and I can't wait!

I hope you all enjoyed this month's selection because I sure did! I loved the way Sophia Amoruso was so down to earth with her writing style. When I first purchased the book I couldn't put it down! Everything was written truthfully and honestly that I almost felt as if I knew Amoruso and she was giving me a positive life lesson that can by chance direct me on the right track for achieving my dreams. This book is definitely inspirational to all women out there who dreams of one day becoming a the new popular hashtag, GIRLBOSS. We just have to believe in ourselves and push aside anything that gets in our way! Now for a couple of questions that can be answered in the comments below. I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts!
  1. What are your future dreams for yourself?
  2. What did you think about Sophia Amoruso's words of wisdom?
  3. Did you learn anything new that can be applied to your life?
Stay tuned for October's book club selection to be announced tomorrow!

Music Monday!

I woke up like this

Today was such a weird day. Last night I received a notification letting me know that my Psychology class would be cancelled. Yes, I know most people would probably be excited to hear such news, I on the other hand was quite confused and felt as if my day was ruined. I had no idea of what to do, sleeping in was my first option until I couldn't keep my eyes closed pass 7am. Breakfast was my second option which I gladly took up the offer to get a nice custom made veggie omelet and a bowl of fruit. I still had so much time on my hands that I literally felt clueless. The rest of the day wasn't too bad except the thunderstorm that sort of randomly came through our area a bit earlier.

Ok, enough of my weird day. This music Monday I decided to share this song by Beyoncé. I can't remember the last time I've actually heard and listened to a song by her. This one however caught me a bit off guard but after a couple of listens I think I may be hooked. Now to spend the rest of my day in bed getting cozy and watching Pretty Little Liars. Enjoy the song!

Happy Monday!

Memebox - Special #19 Cleansing Kit

I received this product for review purposes

Did you know about the world's number one K-beauty store?

Well you do now! Introducing Memebox, the fabulous beauty box that came all the way from Seoul, Korea! It has arrived here in the U.S. and other countries just recently for purchase. Memebox carries four main types of beauty boxes: Memebox, Memebox Special Editions, Superbox, and Luckybox. In addition to the variations of boxes, there are also full-size Korean beauty products available for purchase in the Memeshop!

Today I'll be focusing on the Memebox Special #19 Cleansing Kit. Check it out!

The Memebox Special Edition is designed to come packaged with 4-8 full size products and deluxe samples under its own theme. It's also designed to meet various concerns, beauty trends, and also seasonal needs. My theme is related to cleansing which suits me well as I'm still striving for perfect (or almost perfect) clear skin. This kit reveals the secrets of the 6 step (listed on the website) Korean skin cleaning system for flawless, porcelain skin.

I was shocked to see that everything included in this box is full size. I was also astonished to see such exotic products. Brand wise, they were all new to me. However, I'm just slightly skeptical about the ingredients being written in what I believe is to be Korean since it is Korean beauty after all. The information card includes all of the products with a description and a "how-to use" but I just can't seem to find an ingredient list anywhere. For my sensitive skin and me being not able to understand or read Korean, this is surely an adventure that I'm not so sure I'm up for.

Pictured above are four out of six full sized products I received in my Memebox

Starting from left to right we have the arrahan Peeling Gel ($17), Tosowoong Acne Cleansing Foam ($15), SecretKey Oil-Free Lip & Eye Makeup Remover ($9), and the D'Ran Wonder Pure Cleansing Lotion ($25). I'm really interested to test out these products by the product descriptions despite the inability to read the ingredients. I think I'll take a shot with the cleansers and I'm sure the makeup remover will work just fine without causing any irritations. I'm picky when it comes to lotions for my face so I think I'll hold off on the cleansing lotion for awhile until I can do more research on the product.

Lastly I received (from left to right) the Makeup Helper Special Pore Care 2 Step ($20) and the Ferderma Egyptian Mask Pack ($2). I love trying new masks so I'm sure it won't do any harm to test out this one. Apparently you're supposed to rest with the mask over your face for 30 minutes which seems quite long compared to other masks I've used in the past. The special pore care is a bit iffy to me with the rising skin temperatures and tightening of pores. Not so sure if it'll be a product for me but I won't judge until I try it!

Overall I've received $88 worth of products based on their values on the card and the box itself only costs $23. So far the value is definitely amazing, the products however is sort of a challenge unless you're familiar with them.

If you're interested, currently Memebox does not offer monthly subscription plans so each box will have to be purchased upon release (shipping not included). Also I have a coupon code that I'm excited to share with you all that I'll list below!

4NESVA - $5 off any order (Valid until September 30th, 2014.  Limit one per customer)

What do you think about Memebox or the Memebox Special #19 Cleansing Kit?

#ItStartedWithHELLO

Well HELLO there Colorado State University - Pueblo!

I can still remember the first day I stepped foot on this campus a few months ago and who would've thought that I'd end up living here for possibly the next four years with amazing friends and my lovely boyfriend.

Now let's go back into the past. During the open house for CSUP I was a bit nervous because I didn't know what to expect at a university in an unfamiliar city. It was all so exciting and nerve wracking that I didn't know what I should do. It was quite obvious that I was an incoming freshman but I was not ashamed of that idea. In fact, I am grateful that I was nervous because I wasn't alone! This was the same day that I first met my current roommate Ashleigh!

Who would've thought that we'd have so much in common! Also I don't know if I would've ever believed in the saying #ItStartedWithHELLO until these amazing chocolate bars from Lindt came into my life.

I'm not unfamiliar when it comes to the classic Lindt truffles but these new bars and flavors are out of this world. I surely did not hesitate to say HELLO to these enticing flavors inspired by classic desserts. First up you have "Strawberry Cheesecake", "Crunchy Nougat", "Caramel Brownie" and "Cookies & Cream". Four different flavors available in three different forms; bars, sticks, and mini stick bags!

Even though I'm not the biggest chocolate fan, I couldn't believe how good the strawberry cheesecake stick was. I absolutely love cheesecake and the filling was so fluffy and decadent that I literally thought for a quick second that I was actually eating a marvelous slice of cheesecake. It was too good to be true and I regret not getting a bar.

Of course now I didn't end up eating all of this chocolate alone. Andrew took charge at the cookies & cream bar and Ashleigh seemed to enjoy the crunchy nougat and caramel brownie.

Now the best part of all, Lindt HELLO is having a "Sweet Connections Sweepstakes"! You can enter everyday for the chance to win absolutely sweet experiences from Lindt chocolate. #LUNAFEST

Have you ever heard of the LUNAFEST?

If not, it's totally ok! The LUNAFEST, which was established in 2000 by LUNA is a traveling festival that connects women, their stories, and their causes through film. LUNAFEST can also be used or known for being a "fundraiser-in-a-box", helping hosts raise money for nonprofits in their own communities as well as their main beneficiary, the Breast Cancer Fund. Since it's inception, LUNAFEST has grown from a single annual event to a coast-to-coast force with more than 170 North American screenings each session! To date, 118 filmmakers have been featured, nearly $2.5 million dollars has been raised and thousands of attendees have come away moved, entertained and inspired.

Women are game changers! Don't believe me? Check out the trailer below!

If I have to choose a game changer in my life it would hands down have to be my grandmother. My "granny" has been there for me through thick and thin and always inspires me to be the best that I can be even to this day. Being average is just not enough when everyone has the power to be so much more. My grandmother is currently diagnosed with cervical cancer but that's not stopping her from enjoying life and encouraging me to do the best with mine. She means everything to me and I'm so grateful to know and have a woman like her in my life. Events such as the LUNAFEST really catches my eye because of their amazing backgrounds and contributions to women all over the world.

Want to learn more about the LUNAFEST? You can check out their website here to learn more about their story and causes, find/attend/host upcoming events, or learn more about the films.

Transitioning to Fall

In Colorado, you usually can't tell what season it is by just glancing outside your window. I've already had my taste of long chilly days and nights since August! Now that September is coming to an end and October is quickly coming up, it's time for that transition that some probably can't wait for or that others of us have been dreading. The question is: are you ready?

During the fall season, I believe that when the leaves change colors, so do we! Mix and matching warm, cool tones with dark undertones is absolutely normal in my opinion. It's also the time of year to be super comfortable in those cozy oversized sweaters and cute boots that's been stored at the back of our closets waiting to be retrieved once again.
Today however I'm thinking a slight bit differently. I'm teaming up with Julep, to help you all get ready to transition to fall if you haven't done so already! And I'm not just talking about your clothes, your nails matter too! The summer to fall shades I chose to focus on are "Maddy" which transitions to "Clara".

As you all may know, I'm all for pinks. I can't imagine giving up pink polish throughout any season so you shouldn't be surprised that I ended up with a neutral peachy color which may be the closest shade to pink that I can get. Clara is a total "It Girl" opaque peach creme. It's a soft color that anyone can get away with wearing. I recreated a sort of classic, casual look (pictured above) for fall using my favorite store pieces from H&M, and mixing in Julep's one and only "Clara" of course for a feminine touch. The colors camel, black and a touch of peach really describes my style shade for fall.

Interested in any of the items on my styleboard? You can check them out through the links below!

Pictured above are more of Julep's color transitions from summer to fall whether it's from a bright tomato red or transitioning to a subtle taupe. What do you think? Sound off in the comments below and be sure to check out more of Julep's nail polishes to stay up to date with your nails this season!

Music Monday!

I'm gonna love ya

Oops! Almost forgot about music Monday! How dare I?!

I hope you all can enjoy this song and even more, the music video itself. I love it! Iggy and Rita combined are just totally amazing. This week I truly hope to have more posts published even though there's a lot going on around here and tons of tests that I'm definitely not looking forward to. Blah! Either way, remember to have an awesome Monday!

Monday Funday!

Happy Monday! Once again, I cannot apologize enough for the lack of posts that I've been contributing around here. However, today I wanted to start off with something quite different. I know that "What's In My Bag?" posts are pretty common around the blogosphere but I don't think I've ever had a chance to post one so it's always a good day to try something new. Here I go!

1. MICHAEL Michael Kors Jet Set Logo Crossbody
  • Believe it or not, this little bag is great for on the go, and in my case, across campus. It can hold everything from my phone to essentials such as ones that I carry for mini fashionista emergencies. What's better than a mini, classic crossbody? Um, nothing!
2. Butter London Nail Lacquer
  • I usually always give myself a manicure and pedicure on Sunday's so it's no surprise that you may catch me with the lacquer of color that I'm sporting on hand just in case I made need to fill in a few chips here or there.
3. LAQA & Co Sheer Lip Lube Pencil
  • Besides chapstick, I believe it's smart to carry around your lip color of the day, especially when I'm out having a meal. I'm never surprised when I'm pink one minute and nude the next.
4. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Eau De Parfum
  • It should nearly be a crime to not have any parfum or body mist on hand at all times. I like to have a mini rollerball parfum on hand since it's much smaller to carry around and the scent lasts almost twice as long rather than a body mist.
5. La Fresh Travel Lite Oil-Free Makeup Remover Wipes
  • I usually notice mistakes with my makeup after I've left my door mirror in my room. Napkins and water will not be your hero in the bathroom. Makeup remover wipes or facial cleansing wipes are great for emergencies!
6. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
  • There's no harm in carrying a backup mascara around as I see nothing wrong with applying a few extra coats throughout the day. My favorite first application is usually from Benefit They're Real! Mascara. Applying a mascara with a completely different brush/formula tends to help me fix any mistakes I may find later on.
7. Mitchell and Peach Luxury Hand Cream
  • I consider hand cream to be just as convenient as chapstick. Depending on the season you'll surely thank yourself!
8. Coco Chanel: An Intimate Life
  • Although this book technically cannot fit in my little bag it's nice to have one on hand if you absolutely love to read as much as I do!
9. Essentials
  • Now, it'd be sort of unsafe to not have the most important essentials such as your phone, I.D(s)., or keys. A guaranteed definite must for any bag!
What's a staple in your bag?

Ipsy - September 2014

Woo! My first Ipsy bag while I'm in college has arrived and I'm super excited to open it up and reveal what I received this month. I absolutely love this bag! The metallic silver is definitely a staple and the studs add a bit of street credibility to it. No wonder this month's theme happens to be "Street Style". Check it out!

I gotta admit that I wasn't too excited once I saw the products. Nothing really caught my eye in particular so I can already tell you that there aren't going to be any wow factors throughout this post. However I still managed to receive over $50 worth of products and two full size products this month which is almost no surprise when it comes to Ipsy so I'm surely grateful for that!

Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil in Gun Metal
Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in Love Affair
Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush
Mitchell and Peach Luxury Hand Cream
Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser

First up is the eye pencil. I believe that this is my second product from Pacifica that Ipsy provided me. I love eye liners as it's one of my go to products besides mascara and chapstick. I do appreciate that Pacifica is natural, vegan, and cruelty-free. The shade is a sort of dark silvery grey which is probably a color I won't use too often but may come in handy later on for an occasion.

Next up is the Cailyn lip gloss. This happens to be a full size product which I'm not complaining about and I am a fan of classic red lips. I would have much preferred if the lip gloss was a lip tint or even a tinted chapstick since I dislike lip gloss. This lip gloss however is not as sticky as most so it's pretty tolerable and also the color is great.

The brush is not one that I'm fond of since I already have tons of brushes that I don't use because of the limited amount of mineral products I have. I'm really hoping for other tools besides brushes to be introduced to in my bag in the near future.

Hand cream is one that I have to have in my bag at all times especially with the seasons changing. This luxury hand cream made all the way in England is just right! It's lightweight and leaves your hands moisturized and smelling like flowers.

Lastly is the face cleanser. Since I've been in college, I feel as if my face has been getting "gunkier". I'm all for natural products for my face so I was excited when I noticed that this cleanser was organic, chemical free, cruelty-free, and concern free. With just three simple ingredients you can't go wrong! It doesn't really have a scent since it's fragrance-free but it surely gets the job done by leaving you with a fresh, clean face.

Overall, I can say that I was disappointed with Ipsy but I just wasn't too "wowed" by my products. They will surely come in handy at some point so I'll definitely keep them around. Hopefully next month will be much better and I can't wait for sneak peeks already!

Music Monday!

Staying in my play pretend

I've been gone for way too long and I'm so disappointed in myself! Yes, most of the blame goes to college but I really wish I had the opportunity to have more posts published last week. I feel as if I left you guys in the darkness on my blog. I will try not to do that again but sadly I can't make any promises. So far my week was pretty bland unless you consider homework and lectures to be fun (I think not!) and it's still only the beginning. I'm really trying to get back into the blogging spirit especially with summer ending and fall products hitting shelves but it's super hard when your mailroom is too lazy to deliver your mail on time. Happily Ipsy is coming up and I can't wait to see what this month is like.

For this music Monday, I decided on the remix of this song mainly because it's one that I hear a lot in the shower from another girl on my dorm floor. It's been stuck in my head ever since mainly because I don't know what is being said during more than half of it. I still like the catchy tune but I should probably look more into the lyrics. Hope you all can still enjoy it.

Happy Monday!

Tech Savvy!

I received this product for review purposes

Do you like to keep your devices protected?

If so, Moshi has your back!

Why spend so much money investing in the products you want/absolutely have to have without spending just a tad bit extra to make sure your products don't end up being a complete waste of your money (broken unexpectedly/unprotected). Well that shouldn't have to be the case any longer.

Recently I made a huge investment (on my own!) in a brand new MacBook Pro with Retina Display for blogging and college. Call me crazy but I'm a total Apple fangirl! With that being said, everyone knows that you have got to protect your Apple products with your dear life, I wouldn't even carry my iPhone around naked. Big NO! Well here is one company that I highly recommend to protect your gear whether it's an iPhone, Android, iPod, iPad, Tablet, MacBook, etc. Moshi! I'll be focusing more on the products for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display that I own specifically but you can personally head on over to their website to find any products that may suit your needs!

First, I'll get started on the case that I fell in love with instantly! Normally I would review a product after a couple of uses to get the gist of how/if it works. With the Moshi products, I've been using them for quite some time (almost a month now) so I can really explain to you all how it's holding up and so far, perfect! Pictured above (sorry for the bad lighting) is the iGlaze Pro for MacBook case designed for MacBook with Retina Display (13") in champagne pink. This polycarbonate hardshell case fits like a glove and is perfect for everyday use. The slim design doesn't add much weight at all to my MacBook and keeps it protected from scratches and fingerprints. It's not heavy duty so I would recommend this case for minimalist protection (I haven't dropped it yet so I won't be able to explain that horror). It can be installed and removed in a snap so no magician is needed. There is access to all ports without a problem as the case does not get in the way of that. Overall this case is a dream and is available in six complimenting colors for only $59.95!

Not only do I believe in protecting the body of your product but when it comes to MacBook's you should also consider the keys! Pictured above is the Clearguard for MacBook. Don't we all hate when your keys are super greasy or just plain gross after a couple of hours of use. This ultra-thin keyboard protector would be your savior from grease, spills, stains, and dust. It's practically invisible and your keys can still shine through with the backlight on. As you can see in the picture above, my Clearguard has already taken a lot of grease and dust but my keys underneath still look factory new! I also like that it's washable so when it starts to look pretty gross, you can certainly clean it with a wipe or any other preferred cleaning method. This product is available for all MacBooks for only $24.95!

Lastly is the wonderful iVisor Pro for MacBook Pro. You won't believe how amazing this screen protector is until you've actually tried it. If you're like me, screen protectors are probably your worst enemies because of the gazillion annoying little bubbles that is usually left on your screen after you followed all of the steps. Not with Moshi! I applied this screen protector at least four times until satisfied (I sort of went all OCD because I kept telling myself that I didn't align it perfectly straight) and each time it was bubble-free. I literally thought I was dreaming. Now I know you might be thinking, why purchase a MacBook with Retina Display only to cover it up. Let me say that this screen protector still makes my screen come through with the amazing clarity and anti-glare. The coolest part, it's also washable and can reapplied any time thanks to the polymer adhesive! Quality for $36.95 is so much better than quantity!

Thank you Moshi for saving the world!

Music Monday!

This must be love

Now I couldn't forget about music Monday, even though I almost did. Sorry but college can certainly take up every single bit of time available. Don't worry, I will find time! But I hope you all can enjoy this Monday's selection. I love this song! It makes me really regret not seeing the movie The Fault In Our Stars. Oh well. Maybe next time. Either way, I still get to jam out. :)

Enjoy the rest of your Monday!

#SavetheUndies II

It's that time of the month again...(pun not intended!)

Yes, we're saving the undies again this month but this time we're doing it with confidence! A summary of a dictionary definition of the word confidence basically means: belief in oneself. What I think confidence means is looking and feeling our best overall on a daily basis. It's important to feel confident, and if you're like me, maybe you have a couple of your favorite things that help you achieve that confidence. For example, I feel great when I'm reading a book (#GIRLBOSS is an amazing selection from this month's book club), calling/texting family and friends, and of course treating myself to an awesome mani/pedi.

But that's not all!

My last bit of confidence boost kicks in when I know that my favorite pair of undies are protected by U by Kotex! In case you didn't know, U by Kotex offers a full line of feminine care products for periods including pads, liners, and tampons. Let's all strive to feel confident during our "time of the month" or better yet, all month long with feminine care that we can count on!

While being in college, I'm happy that I can feel confident on the go at all times. I can keep my U by Kotex pads right in my backpack and they're never hard to find with their bright and girly packaging! Specifically, I'm all for the U by Kotex Cleanwear Ultra Thin Regular Pads with their all new 3D Capture Core, a one-of-a-kind center that locks away wetness to help stop leaks.

Are you up for giving them a try? It's ok if you're hesitant! Here's absolutely free option. Just head on over to the U by Kotex landing page and find the samples that best fit your mission to save the undies and keep your confidence. Click on the "Get Sample" button and enter your mailing information. Then, sit back and wait, your samples will be on their way so you can go on feeling confident!

Book Club | #GIRLBOSS

Hello lovelies!

We've made it to the first day of September! I hope August went well for you all. I know I definitely had some fun times and also times where I was super busy to near exhaustion. Hopefully September won't be so bad. Keyword: hopefully. But let's not get off to a bad start just yet. This is supposed to be a "happy" post after all as I'm super excited to announced this month's selection for the book club! I believe this is heading off to a great start. Yay for day one! Well without further ado...

#GIRLBOSS Sophia Amoruso

"A #GIRLBOSS is in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it."
I know there has been tons of hype about this book all around the blogosphere. If you haven't heard of it...where have you been?! I, myself got drawn in by the hype and figured that this would be a great selection for this month to keep myself busy (in a good way). Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of Nasty Gal definitely has some words (some inspirational, some possibly a bit insane) for you in this novel and I'm eager to get started. If you need a wake up call, I highly recommend to grab a copy and get yourself reading as soon as possible!

Music Monday!

That's what people say, mmm - mmm

It's Labor Day and I hope that everyone is enjoying the day off whether it's from school or your job. Sadly, if you're like me today, you don't have a day off. I've already finished my classes for the day and even though it's not as if I'm in class from 9 to 5, I would have much preferred my Monday snooze without labor. :)

However, I was certainly cheered up by this awesome song. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest Taylor Swift fan and I can admit to liking a few of her songs in the past but she has really outdone herself in this hilarious music video. It's really catchy and upbeat. Great to dance along to too and I know I'm such a horrible dancer. I hope you all can enjoy this catchy tune this Labor Day and have a blast!

Happy Monday!
