Face Care 101!

Now isn't it everyone's dream to have perfect dewy clear skin? I know it's definitely mine! It's also such a hassle that I just can't seem to get right. My face is combination-sensitive so I have to be careful of what I use. I've tried everything from St. Ives to Clinique. I'm also the ordinary teen who goes through some acne which is really annoying but I understand that it's natural. I'm on the hunt for new products that can do wonders for my difficult skin but I need some help.

Have any tips or products that you love? Leave comments below.

Here's also a routine for my face that I'll be glad to share. So far i've collected facts and took notes to follow up everyday on face washing. It seems to work but sadly my face isn't 100% clear...yet. I'm dying to make an investment in a Clarisonic cleansing system since the reviews have been top notch. Maybe one day!

Face Washing:

Wash twice a day (morning and night). Use warm water. Exfoilate (with benzoyl peroxide or glycolic acid) twice a week.

For Dry Skin
*Morning & Night*
Wash with a liquid cleanser (gentle or sensitive) or a cream cleanser. Use an oil-free moisturizer (unscented) to keep skin from over drying.

For Oily Skin
*Morning*
Wash with (preferably) a liquid cleanser (with salicylic acid). Use an oil-free moisturizer (unscented).
*Night*
Wash with a liquid cleanser (gentle or sensitive).

Sunday Funday!

Woooo! It's Sunday. The last day of the weekend sadly. This morning was an IHOP breakfast kind of morning once again due to laziness.

I was proud of myself for trying something new. I had a Tropical Island Twist drink, Strawberry Vanilla Stuffed French Toast (without the strawberries) with scrambled eggs (plus cheese) and hashbrowns. I can say I liked the drink but it was mostly lemon-lime soda more than the mango syrup and lemonade. Also the French Toast won't be my favorite because I'm more of a pancake girl but they were pretty good. I'm also super picky for those of you who don't know. The eggs and hashbrowns are always their usual, yummy!

Now that I'm home I decided to do laundry. I need to catch up on some homework for the coming week also. Today definitely will be a busy day!

P.S - remember to enter the Natural Lip Care Giveaway. Only 1 week left! Good luck. :)

Birchbox - September 2013

Yay! My Birchbox finally arrived. Honestly, it took long enough. Wish it was here sooner. This month's theme is Heritage. Here's a peek:

September is Birchbox's anniversary month. It's all about the stories and history of how everything came together and started.

This is what's included in my box this month:

To start off, this box is just...eh. It could have been so much better. This post wouldn't be as wordy as my other Birchbox posts because I'm not too excited for this. Overall I'll probably use three out of the five products I received. Not great.

Starting from left to right is the Coastal Scents eye shadow. I really didn't like the packaging. The eye shadows didn't look like they were in the best condition either due to the packaging. It also came across as a bit cheap and the colors were just...bleh. Don't think I'll ever purchase on my own.

Next in line is the Paula's Choice RESIST BHA 9 for Stubborn Imperfections. This is one of the three things that I'll actual use. I saw the ingredient salicylic acid and my eyes lit up! My skin is so prone to acne and it bothers me that I can never keep it entirely acne free. This product tackles acne scars, wrinkles, rosacea, blemishes, and etc. The only downside about this product was the size. Picture something 10x smaller than your average perfume sample and you've got it. SUPER tiny. I understand that you're supposed to use a pea size of this at night but this is ridiculous. AND it was considered a deluxe sample. Shame!

Over to the right is another product I just currently sprayed in my hair as soon as I picked it up. It's the Serge Normant meta luxe hair spray. I love anything that I can spray in my hair that won't make it sticky or flat. This is one of those products but it does have a strange smell. Not a stinky one but just odd. I do enjoy the hair products Birchbox has been sending me. Great size too. Thanks!

Next in line is one product I found odd by the name but actually isn't bad...the Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips. It's super soft on your lips but comes out pretty thick. Once you spread it on your lips it's not too shiny or greasy and actually not bad for something that was originally for nursing moms.

Last but not least is the RUFFIAN nail lacquer that everyone received in their box this month. I got the color Hedge Fund which is a metallic green. I'm not too happy about the color because green is definitely not my shade but maybe I'll consider wearing it and show you guys a swatch. Maybe. :)

There were no beauty extras this month. :(

Other than that this month was pretty bland but I'll still be looking forward to next month's box.

Here's everything that was included in my box to shop for as full size items in the Birchbox shop:

Procrastination.

Yes. That's what I do. I'm the biggest procrastinator EVER! Right now I'm supposed to be writing up my essay for CCNY to turn in to my AP Composition and Literature class tomorrow but instead I'm sitting here doing everything else BUT that. I cannot concentrate at all! So I guess that means I must blog about it.

Eh, it's Monday.

Another Day, Another Manicure.

Today I was so ready to present my speech about the wonders of how to give yourself an exceptional manicure. Sadly, I didn't get to do that because our speech class is huge and everyone whose topic was on food had to go first. :(

What's on my nails from left to right (in the first picture) is an OPI nail strengthener, base coat, strawberry margarita color, top coat, and a Sally Hansen nail art pen. I love, love, love OPI polishes! They last really long and the brushes are great for finger and toe nails.

I really wanted to show off my cute but yet very simple mani! I rushed it so it's already chipping since it's a few days old. By the time I'm ready to present, I'll have bare nails. Ugh!

Other than that today is a pretty dull Wednesday due to weather. It's slightly rainy out. Basically the type of weather you cuddle up in bed and watch movies to. Can't wait till Friday!

Monday...

Eh, it's Monday and I'm not totally excited about anything at the moment. I hate boring you readers about my boring days. I'm so sorry!

At the moment I'm in school (don't worry I'm finished with my work) and I'm researching everything that's going on at the moment during NYC Fashion Week. So far from what I've seen, the Spring 2014 fashion lines are top notch and elegant. I'm so upset that I can't physically be there since I've never attended before. Ugh! :(

Guess who was spotted and got a spot on Street Style: New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 (Vogue). Chanel Iman! She is such a beauty, I'm jealous. I adore her height! Sporting a Supreme shirt she strides in pride. #Legsformiles

Maybe next year I can participate. Wouldn't that be fun!

Natural Lip Care!

Ok, here's my challenge of the day. I absolutely adore anything for my lips (with the exceptions of lip stains) but what I have a fuss with is trying to find the *perfect* lip balm. I've been doing this for years. Since I was a little girl I've went out purchasing and trying everything from Lip Smackers (at a local Target) to Fresh sugar lip treatments (at a local Sephora). Hands down my two favorites (pictured above) are eos (in pomegranate raspberry) and Burt's Bees (in pink grapefruit).

My last problem is trying to narrow it down to the one and only best of all lip balms, lip balm. Anyone not familiar with eos wouldn't know that eos is 95% organic, 100% natural and is packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil. It is also gluten-free, paraben-free, petrolatum-free, and phthalate-free (whatever that is). This scores you a natural and (delicious smelling, but not super great on tasting) lip balm at a size of 0.25oz (pretty big) for a retail price of $3.29. Super CHEAP! Organic! And last but not least, NATURAL! I'm in love with the sphere (egg) shape; super adorable but is not something you can just slide into your super skinny jeans pocket which is probably the only downside but hey, we have handbags for that reason!

eos ingredients:
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Beeswax/Cera Alba (Cire D'abeille)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Natural Flavor (Aroma), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf/Stem Extract*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil*, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Leaf Extract*, Linalool**. *Organic. **Component of Natural Flavor. Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth.

Last but not least; my other favorite, the Burt's Bees lip balm. I have a couple but so far my favorite (based on smell and taste) is the refreshing pink grapefruit. It literally smells (and sorta tastes) just like a sliced pink grapefruit! 100% natural but not organic. :( Not a problem. It refreshes your lips with vitamins C & E from the pink grapefruit seed oil. This scores you a natural lip balm at a size of 0.15oz (slightly less than eos) for a retail price of $3.30. Literally 1¢ more than an eos lip blam. Pay more for less? Your choice.

Burt's Bees ingredients:
helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, cera alba (beeswax, cire d’abeille), aroma (flavor)*, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, lanolin, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, tocopherol, ammonium glycyrrhizate, canola oil (huile de colza), glycine soja (soybean) oil, limonene. *natural flavor

I would say eos is great for people (like me) who uses lip balms on a daily basis and loves natural and organic products (also the cute egg shape) at a cheap price. Burt's Bees would be best for those who don't apply a lip balm too often (hint: the smaller size) but love the natural smell and flavor for also a cheap price. It's so hard to choose but if I had to choose one, I guess I'll go with eos even though I can't have enough of both.

What's your favorite?

It's the Weekend!

I love weekends only because it gives me a break from school (even though I usually have homework). Today is going to be my lazy clean-up day which I haven't had in awhile. I'm gonna do some laundry, clean my room and get some homework done all in one day that way I can use my Sunday as a chill day. :)

Yesterday was pretty fun. I hung out with Andrew basically all day. First we shopped at the mall, had food at Fresco Mexican Grill then played video games (Diablo 3). Very relaxing and stress free. Soon it's going to be time to start getting ready for college. I kinda can wait until then.

Almost Friday!

What am I doing publishing a post so early in the morning on a school day? Because hey, yes I'm at school in the computer lab posting on my blog because I'm an over-achiever and got my work done early. :)

I'm finished typing up my speech on my topic which is; how to: give yourself a manicure. I have to demonstrate this to my entire speech class sometime next week probably which can easily be an easy A for me because I loveeeeeee nails! All I have to do is bring in everything I use to do my nails and teach my class (boys included). This should be fun and maybe I'll show you guys my new design.

Labor Day: 3-Day Weekend!

Just what I needed! This weekend had to be my best weekend so far since school have started. Can't believe it's already September. Wow!

Blogging wise I have come to the conclusion that I'll start getting more active with my blog and review products I love or hate and just get more daily with my blog altogether for my readers. Of course I'll have school work first but I'll find time!
