Birchbox - April 2015

Yes! Birchbox is here super early this month and check out the super fab box cover collaboration with Rifle Paper Co.! This is by far the prettiest box I've ever received. This month I've skipped out on the sample choice selections and sadly, just like my Sample Society subscription this will also be my last box for some time. However I do hope to resubscribe in the near future! So without further ado, here's a peek:

This month is all about everything fresh and the gorgeous season we have coming on us!

This is what's included in my box this month:

Blah, this box is pretty bland but that's ok, I'll still find use for most of my products anyhow! And I do see one item that I always like to receive.

I received (from left to right) Whish Three Wishes Body Butter in Blueberry, Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Repairing Conditioner, Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Moisturizing Shampoo, Harvey Prince Hello Liquid Loofah, and LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Honeypot.

I do remember receiving some Whish products in the past but this is the first I've ever had a chance to try their body butter and I've gotta admit that the smell is great! Who would've guessed that smelling like blueberries was such a lovely thing.

I generally don't like receiving shampoo and conditioner samples because most don't tend to work very well with my hair texture. I've been getting picky with ingredients lately and would much prefer to use more natural products for my hair.

Harvey Prince is really evolving! First they had their lovely Hello perfume, then lotion, and now body wash! It smells just like the perfume, in fact a bit too strong so I'm not sure that I'll use it on my sensitive skin but I do love the scent.

Lastly, my favorite brand when it comes to these awesome lip pencils, LAQA & Co.! This is the third pencil I've received through Birchbox and I'm not complaining. However I do wish it was a different color since this color does not compliment my complexion very well.

Overall this box was sort of boring but I'm sure Birchbox will find a way to improve future boxes as they usually do!

Here's everything that was included in my box to shop for as full size items in the Birchbox shop.

Sample Society - April 2015

Woo hoo! Sample Society is here once again, and it has arrived pretty early this month too. Sadly this will be my last box since school is closely coming to an end and summer is coming up! There's a chance that I may resubscribe in the future so don't worry! Lately I haven't been too impressed with these boxes so I'm hoping for the best this month. Each month you're guaranteed five deluxe samples and a $10 BeautyBar.com giftcard to redeem on any $50 BeautyBar purchase for only $15 a month (to the US only, shipping included).

Pictured above is the mini mag for this month featuring all of the samples in this month's box. It's a helpful guide for learning about each featured product. (P.S., I'm loving the model's makeup!)

Here's a peek into this month's box!

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream
Benefit Cosmetics The PoreFessional
Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper in Rio
Mt. Sapola Lavender-Chamomile Body Lotion
Illume Tonka Noir Candle

I don't believe I've sampled anything that is featured in this box so it's nice to have some newbie products!

I've heard of the brand Bumble and Bumble mostly from Sephora but haven't had the chance to try any of their products. I've been seeing a lot of hype lately on the invisible oil mostly for it's ability against heat damage so I'll definitely be giving this a try.

You all should know how much I love Marc Jacobs' fragrances. Daisy Dream isn't one of my favorite but it's a lovely floral scent that's great for spring/summer.

Benefit Cosmetics typically make great products, especially when it comes to mascaras. As for the PoreFessional, it's a pretty decent makeup primer that doesn't make my skin too oily. I'll most likely use this sample for my eyes when it comes to eyeshadow and keeping it in place without creases.

I'm not a fan of lip plumpers so this sample will be passed on. However, for those of you who want to know more about it, the color is a sheer brown and apparently it feels as soft as a balm!

Now isn't this just the cutest little jar of body lotion? I've gotta admit that the scent is strong and probably would be best if used at night as a bedtime routine. It's rich but light enough to use throughout the day if you wouldn't mind smelling like lavender and chamomile.

Last but not least is the Illume candle. I love the tin that this candle comes in! It's great to have propped on your desk or in a small corner. The scent is light and I can't really make out what it is but I can tell you that it is warm and floral-y.

Overall this month's Sample Society box was interesting but wasn't the greatest hit ever. The value also wasn't there considering the turn out ended up being about $16 worth of products. For $15, that's definitely a total miss and it's even worse that this is my last box for some time. I truly hope that future month's have great turn outs for those of you who are still subscribers!

Book Club | Better Than Before

Hello everyone!

Ok, maybe it's time that I admit that time itself should slow down just a bit. I feel as if it was literally only yesterday that I was introducing to you all last month's book club selection. Well without further ado let's jump right into April!

Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives Gretchen Rubin

"The days are long, but the years are short."
As a lucky surprise, I was a #Birchbloggers winner to receive a copy of Gretchen Rubin's book and I was super excited because it's not everyday that you have an amazing opportunity to win fun stuff. Now I don't know too much info on what this book is actually about but as a part of the promotion I was told to tweet about a habit that I wanted to make or break. Now my horrible habit is procrastination and it would be lovely to get rid of that no good habit for good. Maybe this book can give me some great tips on forming and maintaining good habits. Grab a copy and get reading!
