Estilo - February 2015

I received this product for review purposes

As a thank you, I received this awesome Estilo package that I figured I'd share with you all! If you don't recall what Estilo is all about. Don't worry! That's what I'm here for. Estilo is a subscription service offering unique, handmade cards made by independent artists form all over the world delivered to your door each month for just $15 or annually for $150. Each month you'll receive up to three cards, postage stamps, and premium seals.

Here's a peek!

Happy Birthday Card Sea Heart City Press

I love how vibrant this card is yet it's very simple which is so me! Because the calligraphy is in pink I'll most likely be sending this off to a girlfriend on their special day.

Printed Hearts Card Bears Eat Berries

This card would have been really cute for this past Valentine's Day. This is another card that's very simple and versatile and can be sent out to anyone.

Just Because Wood Card BSpired

This is probably the most interesting card I've ever owned. It literally looks like it was carved out of wood and has a heavy duty texture.

Estilo is awesome! At only $15 a month it's a great subscription for those who love a variety of amazing stationary every month. The stamps and seals were missing from my package but that could be because this was just a gift but as a subscriber you'll surely be guaranteed your stamps and seals!

If you're up for giving Estilo a chance, be sure to use the coupon code KRISSY20 to save 20% off your first order.

Splendies - February 2015

I received this product for review purposes

Does anyone remember Splendies?

Well they're making an appearance on my blog again! Splendies delivers quality undies to your door every month for $13.99. You're guaranteed three undies in a mixture of styles and colors. Typically a thong is included as one of the chosen styles but if you're not a fan, no need to worry! You can choose a "no thong" option for an additional $2. Shipping is free to the U.S., $7 to Canada, and $9 internationally. You can cancel and/or change your size anytime for no charge!

Pictured above is my February surprise! With Splendies packages there is no information card detailing your undies so it's generally a real surprise. No two packages are the same!

Love Libby - Thong

This thong is rather cute. I love the mesh-like material and bows. The heart print is also pretty for this month as I like to consider it the month of love.

Spree - Cheekster

Cheeksters are my go-to panty style and I love this one from Spree! Polka dots are one of my favorite patterns and the fuchsia pink lace detailing completes it.

Cheekster

This panty was a material that was not of my liking. It sort of reminded me of old lady bloomers in a cheekster design. Strangely enough it's not branded nor did it have a tag attached so I'm not sure I'll be adding these to my collection.

What do you guys think of Splendies this month? Most suggest that when ordering to order a size up than usual as most undies may run small. If none of the sizing over at Splendies suit your needs, they also have a sister company named Volupties who cater specifically to curvier ladies for $17 a month. There's a surprise for everyone!

If you're interested in a subscription and it happens to be your first month then it's certainly your lucky day. Enter the code SPLENDIES at checkout to save $4, narrowing your total from $13.99 to only $9.99!

If you're heading over to Volupties, be sure to enter the code VOLUPTIES at checkout to save $5 off your first month making your total only $12!

Mobile - OMG!

No, your eyes are not deceiving you! I literally just purchased my first car today!!! And what makes it more amazing is that it was the car of my dreams; a Volkswagen Beetle GLS Convertible, all to myself. I'm seriously in heaven! Don't worry, more pictures will be coming soon as soon as I can stop making googly eyes at it, but first I should definitely think about scheduling an appointment to obtain my license (yes, I may be slightly backwards when it comes to cars). I can't wait to hit the roads with my love bug soon!

Memebox - Valentine's Day #2 Candy For Me

I received this product for review purposes

It's a Memebox surprise!

Today I'll be focusing on the Memebox Valentine's Day #2 Candy For Me. Check it out!

This theme is for everyone to treat themselves this Valentine's Day whether you're single or with someone. Everything in this box is super sweet and decadent to self-gift yourself this Valentine's Day. Special edition Memebox's  comes packaged with 4-8 full size products and/or deluxe samples in relation to the theme.

I can already tell that this box will be fun to explore. Just like the previous boxes I've received from Memebox in the past, all of the products are full size. The information lists all the products with their price, description, and use. I will never get over the fact that their isn't an ingredient list on the card and I can't read the Korean that's written on the products themselves. However some of these products seem harmless so I think I will indulge!

Pictured above are the five full sized products I received in my Memebox

Starting from right to left we have the Rappol Nutritious Bio Ampoule Mask (3 Sheets, $36), Elizavecca Aqua Rising Steam Filler Moisture Cream ($46), Shara Shara Berry Berry Cleansing Sherbert ($14), Lassie'el Kiwi Brightening Yogurt Massage Mask (4 Pods, $6), and the Etude Sweet Recipe Candy Stick in Oh! Orange Candy ($5).

These products seem too yummy for their own good! What really caught my attention was the cleansing sherbert. I don't think the words "cleanse" and "sherbert" belong in the same sentence but it definitely sounds interesting and smells absolutely lovely!

Sheet masks are always a delight to have. They make me feel as if I'm taking a day off and receiving a spa treatment. I think I'll have a great time with these especially since they contain pomegranate.

The steam filler moisture cream is probably one product I'm a bit skeptical about. I usually avoid products using the words steam or filler but it's described as a gelato cream which certainly grabs my attention (and my taste buds).

Kiwi brightening yogurt masks? Yes, please! Although I'm not a fan of eating yogurt, I do love it when it's described in products. This mask is intended to brighten and perfect your complexion in just one pod with real kiwi extracts!

Last but not least is the candy stick. At first I literally thought this was a sweet treat to eat but I was mistaken. This stick is a gloss type lip tint that moisturizes and plumps. Lip plumpers and I are not best friends so I think I'll be passing this one on.

Overall I received $107 worth of products which is the highest value I've ever received with Memebox.  I'm not too clear about how much this specific box costs because I believe it's currently sold out. If you're into the Korean-Asian beauty vibe then I highly suggest grabbing a Memebox one day!

Would you indulge in this Memebox?

Who's ready?

I know I am! The real question is: when do we ever stop saving the undies? You're right, never (well at least not yet)! U by Kotex has always had my back (and front) during that time of the month. Embarrassingly enough, Aunt Flo came to town this past Valentine's day threatening to ruin my date but there's never an issue or a hint of worry when I know I have a couple of U by Kotex Cleanwear Ultra Thin Regular Pads in my purse. Talk about saving the day (and my undies) for sure!

I don't think there's a better feeling than knowing you're protected. Luckily for us ladies, U by Kotex offers a full line of feminine products for periods including pads, liners and tampons. Knowing you're protected all day long is just half of the relief. At least now we know who to count on!

You can't miss these in your handbag on the go with their bright and colorful packaging. I make sure to keep a couple in my backpack while I'm on campus or a few in my purse for on the go purposes. I think hands down the Cleanwear Ultra Thin Regular Pads are the best with their awesome 3D Capture Core, a one-of-a-kind center that locks away wetness to help stop leaks.

Don't believe me? Don't have to! Check them out for yourself by heading on over to the U by Kotex landing page to score free samples that suit you. It's easy to join the #UnderWarrior ranks! Click the "Get Sample" button, enter your mailing information, and spread the world – remember U by Kotex has our backs to help make leaks history and save those undies (p.s. – don't worry, your samples will be on their way)!

Music Monday!

We never go out of style

It's Monday once again and this week has started off in such a rush. I woke up to puffy snowflakes falling outside! I can't believe that just Valentine's Day which was only two days ago was nothing but sunshine and the warmth of 70 degrees. I will never understand Colorado for its outrageous weather patterns.

However, for today's music Monday I'd like to introduce you all to the most recent Taylor Swift music video release for her hit song "Style"! I really wish she would release one for "Welcome to New York" as I absolutely love that song. Either way, it's a great video. Enjoy!

Happy Monday to all!

Birchbox - February 2015

My favorite time of the month is when my Birchbox arrives! This month I've decided once again to pass up on the opportunity of sample choice. Lately they haven't been too eye catching so I'm hoping that I'd still be surprised with some goodies curated towards my profile. Not too many sneak peeks was revealed this month (what's up with that?) so lets hope for the best. Here's a peek:

This month is all about friendship! It's dedicated to the people who cheer us on, calm us down, and make us laugh so hard we cry.

This is what's included in my box this month:

Something surely catches my eye!

I received (from left to right) Toni & Guy Classic Shine Gloss Serum, Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Cleanser, BeeKind Body Lotion, Harvey Prince Ageless Perfume, and Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara.

First in line, I don't typically use gloss serums for my hair because I don't like the sticky texture of applying them, however, this formula is silky and light and sort of reminds me of a product I loved in the past!

Next up is the Juice Beauty cleanser. I've actually had the opportunity to sample this cleanser before (sadly in foil packets). It's a bit more watered down for my taste but it's a great everyday cleanser that's non-irritating to my skin which is always a good thing.

Does anyone remember this body lotion from a previous Birchbox post in April of last year? Yes! This is the "lemon pledge" scent lotion that I was sort of obsessed with. I love that it's made out of honey and organic chamomile. It comes off as a bit greasy/oily at first but eventually it smooths evenly once massaged.

It was interesting to try a Harvey Prince perfume sample. I still believe my overall favorite from the brand will always be "Hello". This scent is lovely for spring with hints of sandalwood so I think I'll put it aside until the weather warms up again.

Now for the product that definitely made me squeal with excitement. I cannot believe that Benefit Cosmetics revealed a new mascara this month. As most of you may know, the "They're Real" mascara is still my overall favorite to this day but the Roller Lash is definitely making an impression on me. The brush in comparison to "They're Real" is quite similar with exceptions of a curved effect for curling. I may just have to pre-order the full size as it releases on the 27th of this month. I'm always in need of new mascaras!

Overall this was an ok box but nothing worth wild. This box also came with a bonus goodie for Birchbox subscribers! $30 off an order of $75+ from Rent The Runway (one time use). It's valid only on rental orders now through April 17th. I don't think I'll be having any special occasions coming up (besides my birthday) where I'll need a fancy rental so I'll probably be passing this on to a friend. I can't wait to see what next month has to offer!

Here's everything that was included in my box to shop for as full size items in the Birchbox shop.

Sample Society - February 2015

Woo, Sample Society has arrived and on time! Weirdly enough, not many spoilers were revealed this month so as soon as my dashboard became available I just had to sneak a peek. Immediately I wasn't too excited but I can admit that I'd make use of all of the products I'll be receiving. Each month you're guaranteed five generously sized deluxe samples and a $10 BeautyBar.com giftcard to redeem on any $50 BeautyBar purchase for only $15 a month (to the US only, shipping included).

Pictured above is the mini mag for this month detailing all of the samples featured in this month's box. It's a helpful guide for learning more about each product.

Here's a peek into this month's box!

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush
Chloé Love Story
Nails Inc. nail polish in Princes Palace
nügg Face Masks in Deep Cleansing, Hydrating, and Revitalizing
StriVectin Intensive Illuminating Serum

I was shocked to see a repeat item in this month's box but I won't be complaining since I absolutely fell in love with the StriVectin serum last month. Apparently it was originally meant for this month's box but many subscribers received it last month including myself so let's say I'm considering myself very lucky to have a spare. Now onto the rest of the products!

First up is the Batiste dry shampoo. I'm not the biggest fan of dry shampoo but this one is quite different. Honestly, it reminds me of a h(air) freshener but I don't mind that at all especially for days when I may skip washing my hair.

Next is the Chloé perfume sample. I typically dislike perfume samples like these because they're really tiny. This one smells great. It has a light feminine floral scent which would be lovely to use on special occasions. I'll surely be saving this one.

I've always wanted to try nail polishes from Nails Inc. because I've been fascinated by them ever since I spotted them in Sephora. This color is a light opaque blue which would look beautifully on my nails for the upcoming season.

The nügg face masks are ones that I'm proud to say I'm very familiar with. I've tried these before and loved them! They're quite hard to find in stores near me on campus so I'm happy to have scored a couple to keep on hand.

Last but not least is the product that completes this box in my opinion. The StriVectin serum is one of my new favorites that I use daily ever since I received it in my January box. I'm super excited to have received another so I won't be running out anytime soon because I don't think I can handle splurging on the full size product for awhile.

Overall this Sample Society box did not top last month's but it definitely was great in value with over $45 worth of samples. For only $15 monthly, I'm surely grateful. Hopefully next month will be even better!

P.S. - Score $5 off your first month as a new subscriber with the code 5FORYOU

Pijon - February 2015

When in college, one of the most exciting things is getting mail for sure. What's even cooler is when you receive a lovely care package curated just for you!

Introducing Pijon!

This curated monthly college care package subscription is one that students such as myself can enjoy receiving! Each subscription typically consists of essentials, healthy snacks, beauty supplies and fun treats. It's easy to get started. It literally takes about three steps. For example, first, pick a plan starting from $23 then choose your gender (male, female, or gender-neutral). Next, Pijon selects the contents of your box ranging from a $30 to $60 retail value. Lastly all you have to do is sit back and wait for your box to be delivered to you!

Today I'll be showing you all what I received in my women's box this month!

Oatworks Oatmeal Beverage in Pomegranate Blueberry - I've never received an actual smoothie drink in a subscription before so I was instantly intrigued by this one. My first thought of an oatmeal beverage was "yuck". I don't enjoy oatmeal besides in cookies but this has surely changed my mind. It had a great smooth taste and was awesome to grab in the morning before class as an on the go treat.

Not Your Mother Plump for Joy Thickening Hair Lifter - Although I do not have fine, thin hair I did enjoy using this hair lifter based on its smell. It smells absolutely amazing! It even adds shine which is a bonus for me but however is probably not a product that I'd purchase on my own.

Jimmy Bars in No Bluffin' Banana Muffin - These bars seemed really yummy but what instantly turned me away was the inclusion of nuts. I'll be passing these on to a friend who I'm sure would enjoy them even though they are tempting to try.

Go Mini Towels - These mini towels reminded me of deodorant wipes but a slightly larger size. I'll be throwing these in my gym bag since I would not rely on these to freshen up on without a morning shower. For some reason, that idea does not come off as even remotely attractive.

Game Day Mint Lip Balms + SPF30 - Lip balms are products that I personally can't live without. I was a bit curious on why this was included in the women's Pijon box considering it says "skincare for men" on the label. Without hesitation I passed this along to Andrew. I don't think I'll be missing out on much. His reaction was that it was quite a greasy balm so maybe it was a good thing it didn't end up in my cosmetic bag.

Revolution Tea (Sample 3-Pack) - Oh how I love tea but I'm typically not as excited to receive it in a subscription box. This sample pack was nice in variety and was a new brand to me considering I'm a strict TAZO tea kind of girl. I can't wait to give these a try! Who knows, maybe I'll make a switch.

Brush with Bamboo Toothbrush - The description for this toothbrush was sort of funny (pictured below). Refreshing like a panda would surely be fun. In college, it definitely comes in handy to have toothbrushes on hand especially when living on campus. Saves me from buying another for a while! Also the idea that it's made out of bamboo is pretty cool in my opinion.

Overall, this box was surely interesting but I think I'd prefer to receive a curated care package from per se a best friend. I received eight products that valued up to about $30+. Not bad at all but I don't think I'd be continuing this subscription due to my college budget but it was nice to give it a try. Also I would like another one of those Oatworks Oatmeal beverages. I'm definitely going to be on the look out for those in the grocery store!

Here's a card detailing every product that was included with my box!

But I could stand you one more night

I can already tell that this is going to be a crazy week! College is just beyond exhausting and it's getting ridiculously difficult to multitask. As much as I keep promising to get my blog work together, it's getting harder and harder each time to actually achieve a post. I believe some mobile blogging may have to come back into place due to my hectic schedule. Last month definitely did not go according to plan but all I can do is hope for improvement.

Book Club | I Think I Love You: A Novel

Hi all!

It's that time again! Yes, time is flying which I still can't decide if it's a good thing or not. Possibly. January was definitely super busy coming to the start of a new year but I'm hoping that as time moves on and summer inches closer that there will be tons of fun free time! Now without further ado, it's time for me to introduce to you all this month's book club selection. Woo!

I Think I Love You: A Novel Allison Pearson

"God probably thinks it's worth giving a sense of humor only to those of us who have to laugh at all the rubbish bits that are wrong with us."
This month I decided to aim at a an obvious theme: love. Hey, it's February after all! Let's all get mushy about the one thing that I'm sure everyone loves to feel at some point in their lives. I've gotta admit that I picked this book based on the cover. It features the color pink and the word love so I figured why not. We're all in for a surprise. I just hope it's a good one!
