Quarantine Reads

Since graduating college, I haven't been reading as much as I used to, and I can't tell if it's because I'm traumatized by the textbooks I had to devour or if I've been plain lazy. Most likely the latter. However, during this quarantine, I really had no choice but to get creative with occupying my time so I figured, why not grab some classics that I probably should’ve read during my younger days but didn’t.

So here’s what made the cut so far:

1. The Catcher in the Rye
  • This was an interesting read, I kind of dived into the book expecting the worst based on reviews I read on Amazon.com, however, it wasn't all so bad. The English was a bit repetitive and the storyline was almost borderline depressing in some cases, but it's a read that if you go in with a clear mind, it can be rather interesting to think of the POV from different aspects.
2. Animal Farm
  • I became really intrigued with George Orwell's work after reading 1984 back in high school and this book really opened my eyes. You can almost envision every scene in real life and I can't tell if that makes it horrifying or hilarious.
  • I'm actually still in the midst of reading this one so I can't speak on it much besides the fact that starting out it's a bit hard to get into with the various dialogue between the sisters but I'm hoping for the best.

You can check out these books on Amazon.com as they're a bit discounted and the shipping times were reasonable, especially if you're a prime member. I tend to stick to classics but I'm also willing to branch out and look into any novels that catch my eye. I hope you all have been getting through this quarantine without losing your minds. Hang in there!
