Aztec City!

Wait! Autumn is not over just yet! Paula Dorf is certainly making sure of that with her Aztec City eyeshadow palette and Lash Color in Teal. With these products, you'll surely be able to create endless combinations of looks whether flirty or professional.

The palette includes five colors ranging from classy to nude. You can customize your look anyway you like. My favorite is the light brown (nude) color mainly because I'm not very skilled with eyeshadow and like to portray a more natural look. Swipe this on using the double ended brush and you're good to go.

What I really like about these eyeshadows is the sleek design and mirrored case they come in. It'll make a great gift for any beauty fanatic. At only $36 or the way I look at it is about $7 per color, it's not too bad in pricing. Plus the brush and mirrored case definitely tops it off!

The mascara was sort of iffy for me considering I've never used any other shade of mascara besides black. My eyelashes are black and I usually like them to always be that way. The mascara formula itself was great but the color just did not work for me. It sort of looks as if I'm wearing eyeshadow and it ran along my lashes. I, however would highly recommend this color for anyone with much lighter hair/eyelash color as it probably would be more noticeable.

If you're feeling like you need a new addition to your makeup bag, Paula Dorf is offering all of my readers a free teal mascara with purchase! Just use the code TEAL at checkout and enjoy.

Bespoke Post - November 2014

I received this product for review purposes

Calling all gentlemen!

The holidays are here! Now for me, it's typically the busiest time of year with finding gifts and preparing for birthdays that fall around this time. It can also be the hardest times of the year especially when it comes to one man in my life, my boyfriend. When it comes to gifting, I'm always up for it because I love making people smile and it gives me another reason to do some fun shopping. However, when it comes to shopping for Andrew, it can certainly make me clueless since he's not like most guys who can almost fall in love with anything but he'll definitely give me credit for effort and is grateful for everything I do which I'm happy for. I think this year a load can be taken off of my back with the help of Bespoke Post!

Bespoke Post is a men's subscription service that scours the world for fresh and interesting products. Each month features a new themed "Box of Awesome" which is generally a nicely curated box of high quality products. There are about 6 - 8 different boxes to choose from each month, and usually 2 new boxes are added and 2 retire. Luckily you'll have the opportunity to preview the boxes beforehand where you can choose to ship it or skip it at no cost. The choice is all yours! Each box is a limited edition, themed collection of men's lifestyle gear from up and coming brands. Each box has a value of over $70 and only costs $45 monthly. You can also purchase a box without joining the club for $55. These boxes will make the perfect gift for your boyfriend, husband, or groomsmen, or men in general just in time for the holidays!

This month I choose to review the Highlands box. Trust me, it was hard deciding on a box and I'm not even a guy! There were quite a few to choose from that were just perfect in its own personal way. I didn't let Andrew choose this box because I decided that it would be a surprise for him (hopefully he doesn't witness this post).

The Ports Products grooming essentials is great gift for any guy to add to his daily grooming regime. Andrew is not as conscious as I am when it comes to skincare products but I think this will be great for him because they're high quality skincare basics. Included in the pouch is a 1 oz bottle of a Detoxifying cleanser, Balancing moisturizer, and a Shave cream.

This next product from Paine Products is one that I found very interesting based on the smell. I'm not big on incense and I even had my roommate test out the smell also since I have a very sensitive nose. So far our thoughts combined summed up to be: lumberjack. It's a very strong woodsy scent which is certainly not my taste probably because I'm a city girl. However if you happen to love the smell of trees, bark, the woods or anything falling in that area of smells then this will be great for you or someone in your life who you can relate this too.

The Gilded Age scarf definitely consumed all of my attention once I opened the box. I thought of it as the prize of the entire box of awesomeness. The scarf is made out of 100% extra fine Mongolian wool and the retail surely beats the price for the Bespoke Post box itself. At first, I thought it was a bit absurd that this scarf can be so pricey but once I got my hands on it I couldn't believe how soft, cozy, and comfortable it was. It's so amazing that I even thought of keeping for myself. Definitely puts my pashmina to shame. There were three colors to choose from for this box and I choose the charcoal with ash stripe. This is a luxury gift that I'm sure any guy won't be able to turn down!

Overall, Bespoke Post has impressed me far beyond words. The quality of the products were wonderful and the value was out of this world worth it. At only $45 as a monthly box (or $55 as a one time purchase), for $157 worth of products, I'm sure this is the best deal ever that I've ever received in any subscription box that I've owned. If you're not up for the Highlands box, there are many other curated options to choose from that are currently available. I can't wait to gift this box for the holidays! Ladies, I hope this helps you out a bit when it comes to choosing something for your significant other. Gentlemen, I hope you're in love.

Music Monday!

So it's gonna be forever

Hey everyone! It's been a busy Monday but I'm just glad to be on Thanksgiving break! No classes for a week is well deserved. I've been exhausted! I'm surely looking forward to some great food with family and friends and also some chaotic shopping to end the week off with before I'm back to college for finals.

Today's song happens to be another one by Taylor Swift. I've really been into her album lately and can't have enough of quite a few of her songs. If you're not a fan, I'm sorry! I really hope you guys do enjoy this one.

Happy Monday!

Choose Your Flavor This Fall With ChapStick

I received this product for review purposes

Hello everyone!

Why yes, ChapStick is being featured on my blog once again! This time, it's for their amazing limited edition seasonal flavors for winter. Pictured above (from right to left) is the all new ChapStick mixstix in Vanilla Candy Cane Milkshake, and the ChapStick Seasonal Varieties in Candy Cane are just two out of many seasonal flavors that you may find in stores this holiday season.

The ChapStick mixstix is one that I think is overall super cool. It delivers an innovative two-sided lip balm that offers one flavor on each side. This means that you have the options to wear each side alone or together! Mix and mingle the complementary flavors of vanilla and candy cane for an irresistible holiday sensation. This would be a great stocking stuffer for yourself or a friend. You can find it for a limited time through the holiday season beginning October 1st in a one-count package exclusively at CVS and Walgreens for an SRP of $1.99 to $2.69. Two-count packages are available in the holiday section at Target for an SRP of $3.99.

The candy cane ChapStick is a classic that you can easily fall in love with. The fresh and minty flavor is back by popular demand. It's another great stocking stuff for anyone and is also available beginning October 1st through the holiday season exclusively at Walmart, Walgreens, Target and CVS. The one-count loose sticks will be sold for an SRP of $1.00 to $1.99 at Walmart and Walgreens, and the three-count packs will be available at Target, CVS, and Walmart for an SRP of $2.99. Kick back and enjoy the holiday's with ChapStick!

What do you think about these ChapStick seasonal flavors for the holidays?

Ipsy - November 2014

Ipsy has arrived, and from the sneak peaks that were revealed earlier this month, I'm sort of excited! This month marks my one year anniversary with Ipsy. I've been looking back at my past glam bags through out the year and of course there were the pretty great ones and then the pitfalls. Some of my favorite products to this day I've been introduced to through Ipsy so I'm surely thanking them for that. This month's theme is "Girl Meets Glitter", oh my, you've gotta love that glam bag!

Now by the looks of it all, I can tell you that I'm immediately disappointed. I'm so disappointed that I'm not actually surprised of being disappointed this month. There were so many amazing brands being featured and I feel as if I always end up with the "cheap" products/brands that I personally would not purchase for myself. Call me picky but this sucks. However, value is always top notch which I can admit. I received about $50 worth of products which is great for the $10 subscription but I think it's time that I end here. Generally Ipsy has that occasional product (usually one per glam bag) that's amazing but lately I've been upset with the drugstore brands and non-compatible products I've been receiving. Also their points system really sucks which is why Birchbox will always remain my favorite.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray
Elizabeth Mott you're so FINE Eyeliner
Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base
Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder + Mini Fan Brush
Wet n Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stain

Marc Anthony is a drugstore brand but his hairsprays are usually up to par for me, especially the smell they leave behind. This one is great to use after blow drying or just anytime. Doesn't weigh my hair down and smells great.

Elizabeth Mott is surely on the list of brands that are very repetitive in my glam bags. Her products are much better than Be A Bombshell but I literally have over 90% of her collection thanks to Ipsy. This eyeliner is decent but I would much rather prefer liquid pen eyeliners since they're much easier to apply in my opinion.

Seriously? Be A Bombshell again! I really wish Ipsy would give up with this brand of cosmetics. At first I usually think it's ok and can be tolerated and then I come to realization that I'm just pitying them. This eye base isn't half bad if you like shimmery neutral eye bases but personally I'm just tired of this brand and their products.

The Laura Mercier powder makes my point when I usually say there's that one amazing product in a glam bag for me. I've never received her products in a subscription box before and I'm excited to have a chance to add this to my beauty regime!

The Wet n Wild balm stain just proves another point of cheap drugstore products that I normally won't purchase for myself. Yes, I know that some "cheap drugstore" products out there are actually great! Don't get me wrong, but I won't classify as this to be one of them. The idea of the balm stain is cool but the quality just does not work for me.

Overall, although the bag had a great value and three full size products, I'm just not too happy about it. I think it's time that Ipsy and I part ways and I think that I can admit that I'll miss the cute glam bags after awhile but it's time to move on. After a year, it has been fun with ups and downs but so far I've noticed way too many downs than ups. I hope Ipsy show a sign of improvement down the line and maybe I'll consider resubscribing in the near future!

Honey Nut Cheerios + Usher

How do you jump start your day?

Yes, that was a literal question! I know that being a college student definitely takes toll especially when it comes to my eating habits but I refuse to believe in a ramen noodles diet. Sometimes it may have to be that way but that doesn't mean it has to all of the time. Hmm, maybe it shouldn't be any longer, especially when Honey Nut Cheerios is here to the rescue!

Waking up around 7am every morning can be killer which is typically why I'm not the greatest morning person ever. I believe in the snooze button for sure. Lately it has been really hard waking up and I've been overly exhausted. I thought that maybe I wasn't getting enough sleep but that couldn't be the case since I was exceeding my eight hours a day almost everyday. That's when I decided that I probably should change up my diet a bit. Although I'm vegetarian and I tend to lean on the healthier side, I can still have some trouble consuming a proper meal for my diet. I do blame the college life a bit but I'm definitely back on track thanks to Honey Nut Cheerios

Usually I'm weird when it comes to my cereal; I never eat it with milk, and I only go by handfuls. Now some of you may think that's not too bad but I think not especially when they're high in sugar and artificial flavors which can be addicting. Well surely that's not the case with Honey Nut Cheerios! They're good for your heart, provide whole grain oats, is naturally sweetened with real honey, and gets your day going in a healthy and positive direction.

What's even cooler is that Honey Nut Cheerios is having the coolest promotion going on right now with Usher! Yes, you just read that right. Now you can jam out and enjoy a hearty meal during your busy morning. For a limited time, Honey Nut Cheerios and Usher have joined together to give you access to a new song by Usher titled "Clueless", which is available only through boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios exclusively at Walmart until December 31st, 2014.

All you have to do is purchase a box of Honey Nut Cheerios and on the inside of each participating Honey Nut Cheerios cereal box you will find a unique code which is your key to accessing Usher's new song, then head on over to the campaign landing page where you will enter your code and further instructions will be prompted there to follow. It's that easy! I'm sure you'll definitely start enjoying your busy mornings a lot better. I know I am!

What's your morning routine like?

Birchbox - November 2014

Woo hoo! Birchbox is here baby! Due to my late subscription I wasn't able to partake in the sample choice options so I'm hoping for a great curated box instead. This month is all about giving. Here's a peek:

Birchbox teamed up with RED this month which is perfect considering that it's November which is all about giving, supporting, and sharing with others.

This is what's included in my box this month:

Very interesting I indeed must say.

A firecracker ChocoPod. Yeah I don't think I'm up for such an adventure. Salt, chipotle, and popping candy. No way! Haha, I think I'll pass this on to a friend because I'm not sure my tastebuds can handle it.

I've tried Klorane dry shampoo before and I've noticed the white residue it left behind on my hair so I'm pretty happy that there is now one for brunettes! It works with my almost black hair but honestly I'm still not getting the hang of what dry shampoo is actually suppose to do. Doesn't seem too effective for me but maybe I'm just using it wrong.

I remember trying Gilchrist & Soames lotion before from Birchbox in the past and I didn't mind it too much. This sample size is nice enough to keep in my backpack so it was a great addition!

The Juice Beauty peel is not a disappointment I just really wish the sample size was slightly bigger for more uses since I absolutely love skincare products.

Now I am familiar with COOLA suncare products so receiving this sunscreen was awesome until I realized that it was tinted. Not only is it tinted but the tint is in a shade that's awfully light for my complexion.

Last but not least is the ModelCo Party Proof matte lipstick. I received it in a nude shade called "Get Naked" and it's not the greatest shade of all as I prefer reds and pinks but maybe I'll adjust.

Overall it wasn't a completely horrible Birchbox but the WOW factor wasn't there. I'm surely looking forward to next month so that I'll have the opportunity to choose a sample. I can't wait!

Pictured above is a cool gifting booklet that Birchbox has put together for the holiday. It has some pretty neat stuff in it which is also available online so head on over and check them out!

Here's everything that was included in my box to shop for as full size items in the Birchbox shop.

Sample Society - November 2014

Woo! Another month of Sample Society and I'm excited! This month, BeautyBar.com didn't reveal many spoilers but I decided to stick around and be surprised. Each month you're guaranteed 5 deluxe size samples and a $10 BeautyBar.com giftcard to redeem on any $50 Beauty Bar purchase for only $15 a month (to the US only, shipping included).

Pictured above is the mini mag for this month which details each item included in the box. I always find this super helpful when I'm a bit questionable about a certain product.

Here's the first peek into this month's box!

Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Omega+ Nourishing Oil
Malin + Goetz Bergamot Body Wash
Calvin Klein Reveal
MD Solar Sciences MD Creme Mineral Beauty Balm
Lorac Cobra Mascara

The Alterna hair oil is certainly one that comes in handy especially since my hair is currently going through hell in these harsh weather conditions I'm living in. The sample size is decent but surely not enough for my thick hair.

I typically love Malin + Goetz ever since I received the mojito lip balm in another beauty subscription a while back and I'm not disappointed with the body wash I just really wished it was actually a bigger sample!

I've never enjoyed receiving perfume samples in beauty boxes because they're usually something you can pick up for free at Sephora or almost any where. The Reveal scent by Calvin Klein is nice and warm which is great for this transition from Fall to Winter.

I really didn't appreciate a BB cream that's not for me. The shade says light/medium which would probably only work for my eyes and not my entire face. A medium/dark shade does exist but for some reason Sample Society didn't take into consideration that not every one has a light/medium skin tone.

Mascara is certainly my best friend so I don't mind receiving a second one in a row. I've never tried any from Lorac and the brush is pretty cool which is meant to look like a cobra's head (sort of diamond shaped and slightly curved).

Overall I know that this box could have been so much better. I've seen many reviews for Sample Society boxes throughout the earlier months (which is why I indulged in the subscription in the first place) and this is basically blah in comparison. I received over $25 worth of products which still beats the $15 for the box however it's really not a great box. Maybe I joined at a bad time? Who knows, but I think I'll stick around at least for one more month to hopefully witness some improvements.

Music Monday!

This is a modern fairytale

Today has been a wild Monday! You would not believe that I woke up to sunshine (almost 80 degrees) which later turned into an insane wind storm by 1:00pm and then almost a freeze over by 5:00pm. So yes, it has been a crazy day. As soon as I was finished with classes for the day, I headed back straight to my room and snuggled in a blanket with Netflix and a bit of early Christmas shopping.

Now onto music Monday! I decided to chose a not so happy song for today since today has just been a mess. Selena released this piece not too long ago and it's really not bad considering I haven't heard of her in quite some time. Rumors have it that this song is about Justin Bieber so take a listen and enjoy! :)

Have a better day than mine!

Brand Spotlight: Juice Beauty

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday! Today I've decided to do a brand spotlight post since I haven't been able to do one in quite some time. Here's a company that I've stumbled upon in the past and decided to take the lunge and try a full size version of one of their products. Introducing Juice Beauty!

Juice Beauty is all about the purest organic skincare ingredients. This blemish clearing mask's objective is to clear skin and control oil. It's a purifying and deep cleansing clay which you can use as a weekly treatment mask to refine your skin tone and texture to achieve a clear complexion.

So far I've used it multiple time in the past few weeks and I've gotta admit that I haven't exactly seen many changes. I'm a bit acne prone and breakout quite easily. So far I don't have major acne problems at the moment but I do have a bit of scars that I wish would disappear. This mask haven't really helped with the problem and I can't necessarily tell if it's hydrating my skin considering that I always use a separate moisturizer after cleansing.

Was it worth the splurge of $24? I think not! Although it was quite ineffective to me, it doesn't mean that it won't work for you. It's a risk that you may have to take in order to know for sure!

PEEPS Holiday 2014

I received this product for review purposes

Are you ready for the holidays?

I know I am when PEEPS are! PEEPS is making the holiday season more festive with new flavors and shapes arriving just in time for the season of giving. Who wouldn't want a package of these yummy goodies? Plus the mischievous yellow-colored Minions from the "Despicable Me" movie series have taken over nearly the entire PEEPS Holiday collection for 2014!

Memebox - Special #43 K-Style 3

I received this product for review purposes

Another round of Memebox is here!

Today I'll be focusing on the Memebox Special #43 K-Style 3. Check it out!

This theme is related to the most up to date beauty trends in Korea. The cosmetics has a broad makeup look spectrum that will range from soft and neutral to bold and flashy new looks. Special Edition boxes always come packaged with 4-8 full size products and deluxe samples relating to the theme.

From the looks of it, I could already tell that this is probably not the box for me at all. Just like the previous box I've received, everything was full size! The information card lists all of the products with a "product description" and a "how to use" section. Once again there isn't an ingredient list on neither the product nor information card so I'm too comfortable using these makeup products on my sensitive skin.

Pictured above are the six full sized products I received in my Memebox.

Starting from left to right we have the Secret Kiss Face Fit Strobe Cream ($11), Vella Flower Flower B.B ($26), Color World Jewelish Stick Shadow in Twinkle Green ($13), Style Y Color Fit Creamy Lip & Cheek in Smoothie Pink ($13), Style Y Soft Fit Mix & Match Pencil and Powder Shadow in Brown liner and Peach tip ($9), and the Tonymoly 7 Days Tattoo Eyebrow in Dark Brown ($8).

When I really look at all of the products I received, they didn't seem bad at all. Besides not knowing the ingredients they contain my only other problem was the shades of color of the products themselves. The strobe cream is basically a makeup base/starter and can be used as a highlighter. I typically don't wear foundation anymore and already have a current highlighter that I use mainly for my eyes so I don't think I'll be needing this. The B.B cream was instantly a no for me since I just look at it as a pore clogger (this one however is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores without clogging them), also it's definitely way too light for my skin complexion even though it doesn't exactly have a specific shade listed.

The stick shadow would have been much nicer if it was in a much more attractive color. I'm not the biggest fan of what looks like mossy green to me. Definitely does not compliment my skin tone at all but I do like how smooth and creamy the formula is. The same goes for the creamy lip and cheek. Smoothie pink is a bit too light of a pink for my lips and I can't imagine even putting this on my cheeks.

I thought the idea of the pencil and powder shadow was great. It would have been even better if it was a dual eyeliner instead of a shadow. And last but not least is the tattoo eyebrow. It surely reminds me of a liquid eyeliner but for your eyebrows and not as strong. It definitely failed with my already bushy eyebrows so this is probably better for someone with sparse or thinner eyebrows.

Overall I received $80 worth of products based on the values given on the information card. The box itself only costs $23 so this is really great! Value is never a problem with Memebox I've notice. If you're interested in beauty trends from Asia then this is the company for you. Currently the box I've received is sold out but there are tons more than you can explore on the Memebox website. I also have a coupon code that I'm happy to share with you all to use towards your purchase!

WWUX1H - $5 off any order over $30 (Valid until November 30th, 2014. Limit one per customer)

What do you think about this Memebox?

Music Monday!

Tell me something I need to know

Happy music Monday everyone! This music video finally was released today and it was such perfect timing to share with you all! I have no idea why, but this song has definitely been stuck in my head for awhile and I always catch myself humming along the tune. It's pretty catchy! As for the music video, I'm not sure where Ariana Grande was going with it but I still like the song and maybe you guys may like it too, or the video!

I hope you all are enjoying today and what's left of it!

Book Club | Paper Towns

Woo it's November!

And you know what that means? (Besides Thanksgiving of course)! A new selection for this month's book club! October has been a wreck and I hope that November can make up for it. I can't believe we're inching closer to 2015. Maybe I should consider wishing for time to slow down just a bit. Gosh I'm exhausted. Well without further ado, onto this month's selection!

Paper Towns John Green

"I'm in love with cities I've never been to and people I've never met."
This month I decided to go along with a suggestion that I received and by all means I definitely believe this will be a great one. With John Green on the rise, I figured why not. Rumors have it that Paper Towns is in progress of becoming a motion picture so let's get reading before that happens!
