Book Club | Better Than Before

Hello everyone!

Ok, maybe it's time that I admit that time itself should slow down just a bit. I feel as if it was literally only yesterday that I was introducing to you all last month's book club selection. Well without further ado let's jump right into April!

Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives Gretchen Rubin

"The days are long, but the years are short."
As a lucky surprise, I was a #Birchbloggers winner to receive a copy of Gretchen Rubin's book and I was super excited because it's not everyday that you have an amazing opportunity to win fun stuff. Now I don't know too much info on what this book is actually about but as a part of the promotion I was told to tweet about a habit that I wanted to make or break. Now my horrible habit is procrastination and it would be lovely to get rid of that no good habit for good. Maybe this book can give me some great tips on forming and maintaining good habits. Grab a copy and get reading!

Book Club | Breakfast At Tiffany's

Hello!

You know that I couldn't forget about this month's book club. This month I wanted to make it fun and in honor of it being my birthday month I picked out one of my favorites for you all so it'll just be a repeat for myself. I'm guaranteeing that you guys will love it because I can't see why not. I hope you're ready!

Now I hope it wasn't quite obvious but I'm in love with this book, and the movie, and nearly all things that revolve around Breakfast At Tiffany's! Considering that I watched the movie first I was even more excited to dive right into the book when I first read it. As you can see from the above picture that my book is not in the greatest condition but that's ok! I still love it and will keep it on my bookshelf until the pages start falling out. Now I don't want to give away the store so I recommend that you grab yourself a copy and get reading!

Book Club | I Think I Love You: A Novel

Hi all!

It's that time again! Yes, time is flying which I still can't decide if it's a good thing or not. Possibly. January was definitely super busy coming to the start of a new year but I'm hoping that as time moves on and summer inches closer that there will be tons of fun free time! Now without further ado, it's time for me to introduce to you all this month's book club selection. Woo!

I Think I Love You: A Novel Allison Pearson

"God probably thinks it's worth giving a sense of humor only to those of us who have to laugh at all the rubbish bits that are wrong with us."
This month I decided to aim at a an obvious theme: love. Hey, it's February after all! Let's all get mushy about the one thing that I'm sure everyone loves to feel at some point in their lives. I've gotta admit that I picked this book based on the cover. It features the color pink and the word love so I figured why not. We're all in for a surprise. I just hope it's a good one!

Book Club | The Overnight Socialite: A Novel

My apologies!

Yes, I know that I'm pretty late with this book club post so I'm surely going to make it up to you guys by changing the time limit for this month. I decided on not only declaring this as the December post but also I will be including it as January's. It reminds somewhat like a magazine when sometimes two months combine into one. I'm done with finals and fall semester so I'm surely going to use up my one month break time wisely (of course the blog will have a chunk of that time too). But without further ado, let's dive in!

The Overnight Socialite: A Novel Bridie Clark
"Never trust a man who spends too much time on his hair."
This month I decided to be a bit random. I was just looking through tons of books online and in bookstores and couldn't figure out what to read. I ended up grabbing this copy and figured what can possibly go wrong. As for the title, (I'm judging after all) I think this may be a quick and possibly delightful read. I won't tell until I open it up!

Book Club | Paper Towns

Woo it's November!

And you know what that means? (Besides Thanksgiving of course)! A new selection for this month's book club! October has been a wreck and I hope that November can make up for it. I can't believe we're inching closer to 2015. Maybe I should consider wishing for time to slow down just a bit. Gosh I'm exhausted. Well without further ado, onto this month's selection!

Paper Towns John Green

"I'm in love with cities I've never been to and people I've never met." 
This month I decided to go along with a suggestion that I received and by all means I definitely believe this will be a great one. With John Green on the rise, I figured why not. Rumors have it that Paper Towns is in progress of becoming a motion picture so let's get reading before that happens!

Discussion | The Great Gatsby

Hi!


Can you believe that October has come to its last day already. It's Halloween and here we are wrapping up The Great Gatsby. Don't worry, tomorrow will be a new surprise!

I hope everyone enjoyed this month's selection! If not, I'm sure you'll enjoy the movie. I'm so hopeless when it comes to romance that I immediately knew I would love the book as much as I did the movie. Gatsby with his mysterious ways but I do wish there was a much more positive ending. Now for a couple of questions to end this month's selection.

1. Who is your favorite character?
2. Did you like/dislike Fitzgerald's writing style?
3. What did you enjoy most about the reading?

Book Club | The Great Gatsby

October already?

Whew, time really is flying. Can you believe we're already on the third month of the book club? I certainly can't. I almost feel as if we started yesterday! I really need to catch up with the times. September has been an awfully busy month and I can assure you that it's probably going to be that way every month until I'm able to set free for a summer vacation in about May/June. Woohoo! Well without further ado it's time for me to introduce to you all the book selection for this month.

The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald
"I hope she'll be a fool -- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool."
I couldn't help but falling back on yet another classic. I'm a bit ashamed for not having read this book in my lifetime (however I did see the classic movie dated from 1974). I fell in love with the quote that I wrote above immediately once I heard the actress, Mia Farrow playing Daisy Buchanan say it. I can't wait to come across it again in the book. I hope you all come to like this selection. I'd also appreciate any input for the upcoming month selections!

Discussion | #GIRLBOSS

Hello there!


September has come to a close and it's time to wrap up the selection of this month's book, #GIRLBOSS. Can you believe that it's already discussion time? Tomorrow we'll be turning the pages of a new book and I can't wait!

I hope you all enjoyed this month's selection because I sure did! I loved the way Sophia Amoruso was so down to earth with her writing style. When I first purchased the book I couldn't put it down! Everything was written truthfully and honestly that I almost felt as if I knew Amoruso and she was giving me a positive life lesson that can by chance direct me on the right track for achieving my dreams. This book is definitely inspirational to all women out there who dreams of one day becoming a the new popular hashtag, GIRLBOSS. We just have to believe in ourselves and push aside anything that gets in our way! Now for a couple of questions that can be answered in the comments below. I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts!

Book Club | #GIRLBOSS

Hello lovelies!

We've made it to the first day of September! I hope August went well for you all. I know I definitely had some fun times and also times where I was super busy to near exhaustion. Hopefully September won't be so bad. Keyword: hopefully. But let's not get off to a bad start just yet. This is supposed to be a "happy" post after all as I'm super excited to announced this month's selection for the book club! I believe this is heading off to a great start. Yay for day one! Well without further ado...

#GIRLBOSS Sophia Amoruso
"A #GIRLBOSS is in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it."
I know there has been tons of hype about this book all around the blogosphere. If you haven't heard of it...where have you been?! I, myself got drawn in by the hype and figured that this would be a great selection for this month to keep myself busy (in a good way). Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of Nasty Gal definitely has some words (some inspirational, some possibly a bit insane) for you in this novel and I'm eager to get started. If you need a wake up call, I highly recommend to grab a copy and get yourself reading as soon as possible!

Discussion | Pride and Prejudice

Hey there!


Can you believe that August has already arrived to an end? As promised, I'm wrapping up the August book club selection Pride and Prejudice today and tomorrow I'll be jumping into a new book (I believe this one will be super exciting!).

I hope that this month was a success to you all whether you chose to participate in the book club or not. I had a great time reading this classic novel and I know that we may or may not all agree on the same topics but it's nice to open up and share our thoughts together. 

Overall there were times when I dozed off reading this book because I wanted Elizabeth to get to the point already! I gotta admit that Mr. Darcy had me on my toes and aggravated me tons because he was always so sly and such a smart alec about the simplest of affairs. Well before I leap into a rant that's building up inside of me while I'm typing away, I do have a few questions for you all on the novel that I'll list below! It's a discussion after all! :)
  1. Who was your favorite character?
  2. What did you first think about the blossoming relationship between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy?
  3. Which volume (or chapter) did you enjoy the most?

Krissy Deane | Book Club

Hello lovelies!

It's the first day of August! I know, I can't believe it either. I want to treat this month a bit differently and introduce a new idea that I've decided to go forward with for the blog. You've probably already figured it out by the title of this post but without further ado I would still like to provide a brief introduction.


It's nearly perfect timing with college coming up and summer closely coming to an end to start something new. Some if not most of you may want or need a new hobby, so why not reading? I absolutely love to read as I do it literally everyday. By the way, you're doing it right now! Whether it's books, magazines, or blogs, reading is surrounded everywhere and I just can't help but enjoy it.

Now onto more details about this idea. I've decided that a monthly book club would be awesome for the blog. You'll have a chance to borrow, purchase, or download the book if you would like to participate and still have enough time to catch up on reading. I'll even list where you can find the exact copy I'm reading (if available) at the end of the post if you're really interested. Don't worry, it's not a commitment that I'll hold you accountable for. Even if you decide not to participate you can still join in on the fun.

On the first of each month I'll announce the selected book for reading and on the last day I'll hold a brief discussion/conversation about the book right here on the blog! I'm always up for suggestions so don't hesitate to voice your opinions. I've also added a new tab above the header named "Book Club" where you'll be able to easily find the archives for the books chosen each month and the discussions. Also on the sidebar there is now a "Book Club" gadget where the image of this month's book will be featured. You can also click directly on the image to lead you to the post featuring the book of the month.
