Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Polish - Review

I received this product for review purposes.

I hope you all are familiar with the girly pink container that most products from the popular brand Soap & Glory come in. If not, that's ok! I'll introduce you.

Now I've gotta say I was really attracted to the packaging before I even had a chance to open and test the product. I love the color pink because it's girly, and the funny quotes on the container definitely caught my eye for reading. "Transform Your Scaly Legs From Reptilian To Radiant!" Haha, I even got my mom to chuckle at that one. :)

The body polish itself has to be my new favorite compared to others I've been using. The smell stands out A LOT and may come off as a bit strong but doesn't irritate my skin which is combination/sensitive. In fact it smells quite delicious (but I wouldn't recommend eating it). It exfoliates really well and leaves your skin super soft and smooth by using ingredients like shea butter, sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, sea salt, and sugar. Definitely great for the upcoming spring season, so say goodbye to dry skin and hello to your new baby smooth body.

I love the fact that the size includes so much for the value. Typically a body exfoliator will cost $$+ for just barely a few fluid ounces. With the Soap & Glory "Flake Away", you'll receive a huge 10.1 fl oz tub for only $20 where you can typically purchase at Sephora. Also since you don't really need to use too much of the polish, it's really worth your money and can go a long way.

The polish feels like a creamy/beady paste when applied to your skin (like pictured above). It's not necessary to scrub really hard into your skin because with just a simple rub you'll definitely notice the difference. I tested it on my arm first and once I rubbed it in gently and rinsed it off my skin felt so much softer. I'm pretty sure I can get away without applying lotion or moisturizer. :)

I honestly can see myself splurging on other products from Soap & Glory on my next trip to Sephora. I'm really content about this product and will look forward to helping myself to more.

What do you think of "Flake Away"?

Save Makeup Save Money: Tips for Making Your Beauty Products Last - Lara Ramos

I believe that beauty products can make the world go round with the amount of time and money you spend looking for the "perfect" look/product. A shopaholic like me usually have a hard time saving money or better yet, saving my makeup altogether. Recently I was contacted by an HSN representative to check out a blog post called "Save Makeup Save Money: Tips for Making Your Beauty Products Last" by the one and only Lara Ramos.

What a relief! I honestly didn't know some of this information and luckily I was able to come across it. These are definitely some tips worth knowing so I decided to share her post with you guys. I hope this helps any beauty crazed shopaholics out there who's interested in saving money and makeup. :)

In Lara Ramos's words:

1. Build a Better Makeup Bag

At times, I look through my stash and find no fewer than a dozen variations of the exact same lip shade. None of these products get used consistently and they mostly end up expiring before I can even scratch the surface. I've learned that by better editing my purchase decisions, I can make sure that I have a variety of products that I use more frequently – and I’m more likely to use them to the very last drop.

HSN Makeup Brushes and Tools2. Clean your Brushes

Not only are makeup brushes expensive, but they also touch all of your makeup. By keeping them clean, not only are you extending their life, but also the life of your products. Keeping powders and blushes free and clear of oils and bacteria that tend to break them down will help them live a longer life.

3. Keep it Pretty

You will never find my hard earned makeup knocking around in a vanity drawer or at the bottom of my purse. Oh, the horror! I’m careful to keep my beauty treasures tucked inside of pouches when I’m on the go or on a tray sitting on my vanity at home. This way, there’s far less chance that they will crack or explode, wasting precious product.

HSN Lip Gloss and Plumpers4. Scrape the Bottom

I recently discovered these little spatulas that you can use to actually scrape the bottom of your makeup bottles to get to the very end of them. I’ve also been known to use them after cutting open tubes of concealer and lip gloss to collect one final application. Brilliant!

5. Portion Control

It may go without saying, but using only what you need can really make your makeup last. I found that I was always left with unneeded foundation or extra moisturizer after applying, so I downsized my dose and I’m wasting less. Making other small changes like not spraying my fragrance into the air and walking through it has also helped!

What do you think? How do you normally save your makeup?

Happy Monday!

Hello everyone!

I know it's only Monday but I'm quite cheery today. It could be because I finally have the chance to blog without being overworked with other things to do. Who really knows but I like it (besides the fact that I may be coming down with a cold).

Warning: This post may not be your typical Monday read.

So...besides the fact that my birthday is in 2+ weeks, prom is coming up and I still haven't decided on a dress, color scheme or even shoes! I don't want to leave it off for last minute but I'm such a picky person that it's so hard for me to shop in my price range. I've never thought about renting my prom dress because I usually love to hang the dress in my closet but I really don't want to spend $$$ for a dress I'll probably only wear once. To settle that I believe I found the most convenient website called Rent The Runway

This site is just brilliant! You can score designer dresses to rent for just a fraction of the retail price. Pictured above I found a Badgley Mischka "Sequin Stardust Gown" to rent for only $70. Yes, $70! As I've probably mentioned tons of times, I love things that shine, sparkle and just stand out. This dress is literally sequined all the way down. I honestly think that this could be THE dress. I just really hope it'll be available around my prom date when I want to rent it since I'll most likely look around for a bit longer. Maybe some new arrivals will be out by then too.

Also this is a great site to use since hopefully most girls will go to magazine sponsored stores to search for prom dresses so I think there will be a better chance I won't see a double. :)

I'll definitely keep up to date if I find anything jaw-dropping.

P.S - I know my blog is a lifestyle blog but I feel as if it's missing out on a special touch. I hope I find that soon. Any ideas are welcome. I'm always open for suggestions!

I hope everyone is having an amazing Monday!

100% Pure - Review & Giveaway

I received this product for review purposes.

Introducing 100% Pure, a company that makes products using 100% all natural, organic, vegetarian and vegan ingredients! Now you're probably thinking there are hidden ingredients somewhere but I can assure you that they're 100% pure for sure.

Yes, I was also curious at first but I did my research and couldn't find a single horrible ingredient anywhere.

When it comes to my sensitive/combination skin, healthy products are a must! I scout beauty stores and usually just give in to "average" products and hope that my skin won't reject it which is such a bad habit. I don't think I'll need to do that any longer.

I was super excited to know that natural products like these actually exist! I chose to review the fruit pigmented lip butter in cranberry, fruit pigmented halo satin eyeshadow in shimmery pearl, and the fruit pigmented mascara. Nothing can be better than natural fruit pigmented makeup!

Here is the fruit pigmented mascara in the color "black tea".

It's 100% natural and vegetarian. It's colored with black tea and berry pigments which makes it smell delicious! The mascara is supposed to lengthen, separate, thicken, and gloss your lashes. It's water and smudge resistant and suitable for sensitive eyes.

I absolutely adore this mascara. It goes on smoothly and I can get clumps out easily with an eyelash comb. The smell has me hooked. I just love the natural fruit scent once I take the wand out of the mascara tube.

I also love the packaging. The mascara tube itself is so shiny and pretty. Packaging usually means a lot to me and I can definitely give this one a thumbs up.

Here is the fruit pigmented lip butter in "cranberry".

Now this lip butter is not only 100% natural but also vegan and gluten free. It's colored with fruit and vegetable pigments instead of harsh minerals or synthetic dyes. It's compacted with organic avocado, shea, and cocoa butters.

I love this lip butter. So far it's way different than others I use from other brands. It adds a slight color to my lips and moisturizes all in one. The texture isn't too thick and goes on perfectly. I really wish there was a tube version to this instead of a tin but it's still a great product!

Here is the fruit pigmented halo satin eyeshadow in shimmery pearl.

The eyeshadow is 100% natural, vegetarian, and gluten free. It's also colored with fruit and vegetable pigments just like the lip butter.

It's super smooth on your eyelids which gives it a velvety look and feel. I love the color but the texture is what I'm really into. It's just so soft!

Overall I really enjoyed testing out 100% Pure's cosmetics. I really like the fact that everything is natural. That's really hard to come by nowadays and knowing it's 100% natural means it can be suited for all skin types. Be sure to check out other products on their website here.

P.S - One lucky reader will have a chance to win all three of these products pictured/reviewed above. Good luck! :)

Such A Busy Day!

Of course when Thursday comes around I'm always super excited for Friday! I can't believe I've been so busy this month. I actually hate how busy I've become lately. But anyways...here's what has been going on so far this week.

I've been having a lot of classwork and homework to do for my AP Composition and Literature class. I can't believe the big exam is coming up in just a few months and I still feel unprepared. Ugh!

We've had really great weather here in Colorado Springs lately (with the exception of sleet/hail/rain for a bit last night). It made playing tennis so much more fun than usual. I can't believe tryouts are coming up on Monday. I really hope I get to play more than I did last year. That will be great!

I have so many posts, reviews and thoughts to share with you guys. I now know the struggle of being a blogger. Because of my busy schedule there is barely enough time for me to blog and get everything published. :( I know that I will find time eventually. I hope you guys can stick around just a while longer. I will love to share everything with you all.

We're on each other's team

I believe Lorde is just amazing! I absolutely love this song. I think I like it more than "Royals" now. Definitely stuck on repeat. :)

Here's just a silly selfie of a weird face I recently sent my boyfriend. Blah, I like to have fun. :P

Last but not least, my birthday is in about 3 weeks! I can't believe I'm going to be 18. Such a big change and then I'll be graduating soon and heading off to college. I'm a little bit anxious. I also believe everything will turn out OK. I can't wait! But then again I like to think that I can.

Birchbox - February 2014

It's finally here! I've been so excited for this month's Birchbox ever since the spoiler was revealed earlier this month. For February, Birchbox collaborated with the editors of U.S Weekly to give us the secret behind every red-carpet look. It makes sense that this month's theme is Step And Repeat. Here's a peek:

February is all about prepping for perfection. It's all about sharing intel and learning new techniques for the picture perfect you.

This is what's included in my box this month:

Now this is what I'm talking about! I was super excited to be revealed to new skincare products. Yay!

I received (from left to right) Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser, DDF Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew, OPI Sheer Tints in I Can Teal You Like Me, Agave Healing Oil Treatment, and a lifestyle extra that included two satchets of Harney & Sons Fine Teas.

It was really hard picking a favorite this month. I was disappointed a bit with the sizes of the polish and healing oil treatment. I really wished the polish was a full size bottle. I also wished the healing oil treatment was in a bottle rather than the packet. I still love and will use the products.

I really want to thank Birchbox for including a cleanser AND moisturizer that are both 1oz+ in my box this month. This is wonderful and was needed! I can never have too many cleansers and moisturizers. Also the ingredients don't seem harmful so I will use them and maybe even invest in the full size versions if they turn out to be amazing.

I can't believe how happy I am about my box. For those of you who have read my previous reviews, there were times where I was completely unsatisfied so this is a great outcome.

Also I haven't mentioned this in awhile but for the readers who may be interested in Birchbox, it's only $10 a month and the rewards program is beyond amazing. 100 Birchbox points = $10 to shop in the Birchbox shop. Typically you can earn about 40 points a month just by reviewing your items that you received in your box that month.

Here's everything that was included in my box to shop for as full size items in the Birchbox shop.

Darby Smart To DIY For Box - February 2014

Introducing your new internet rehab, Darby Smart

This is a great box to have fun crafts to do, whether alone or with friends. There are so many projects to choose from (prices vary). I chose to review the monthly "To DIY For" box which gives you everything you need for a DIY project for only $19. Shipping is absolutely free and only available to the US.

In my box I received four ceramic tiles, one pack of cork stickies, three alcohol inks, one alcohol blending solution, one mod podge, and a foam brush to complete my project.

This month's project is making "Ink Blot Coasters"!

The designer of this project is Rachel Mae Smith of 52 Weeks Project.

There are step-by-step instructions/details on the back for helping you create your ink blot coasters.

I'm typically not the most creative person in the world but making these ink blot coasters made me a little proud of myself. They were super easy to make once I followed the instructions. I was really amazed by how cool the alcohol inks looked on the ceramic tiles once I applied the alcohol blending solution. Depending on the drop size, they blend really easily. Everything is up to you! If you don't like your design once it's dry (I'm assuming before you seal it) you can simply wash it off with soap and water. The project itself only took about 30 minutes (including drying time) so you won't get exhausted.

I'm saving the other three ceramic tiles, leftover alcohol inks and whats not to finish up another time or maybe even have some friends finish it up with me. I really did enjoy this project as this isn't something I would come up with myself. Who would've thought that you can make coasters out of just ceramic tiles, cork stickies and ink?! Definitely not me.

Here's how my first ink blot coaster turned out.

This is the bottom on the ceramic tile with the cork stickies added on for placement.

And here is my finished product once the ink dried and I sealed it with the mod podge. I love it!

Overall, this can be a great box for anyone interested in getting creative or just having fun. You can sign up for a "To DIY For" for only $19 today! The next box ships March 12th.

P.S - If you're curious about other DIY projects, head on over to Darby Smart's website where you can check them all out.  Also Darby Smart was nice enough to let me have a custom code for my readers which means you guys are able to get $10 off a kit of your choice! Just use the code: DIY54 (Offer valid until Monday, 2/24/14, 11:59pm EST) Enjoy!

What do you think of Darby Smart?

I Love, LOVE!

Here is my post-Valentine's Day post! Sorry I didn't get to post this yesterday but I was so busy with tennis, and school work and then Valentine's Day all together that I really didn't have time.

Here is my finished piece from Color Me Mine (of Colorado Springs). I honestly wished I chose better color schemes and had much better artistic skills but I don't mind too much of how it turned out. There is a big difference with the before picture that you can check out here. I still love it and I'll probably just keep it in my room on my bookshelf. I'm still not sure if it's supposed to be a vase since it has a opening on the top or just something completely different. I guess I'll figure that out later.

All this week in my Food Skills & Catering class we made tons of sweets for the upcoming Valentine's Day. Everything is homemade since everyone contributes in their group/kitchen. For the first time ever I got to make biscuits (which I made heart shaped ones for the month of love) and chocolate chip cookies. They were absolutely delicious even though I didn't eat them all. They are are really satisfying!

Stay tuned for more posts and I hope everyone is having a marvelous Saturday! :)

Ipsy - February 2014

I'm always looking forward to my Ipsy Glam Bag so I was so happy when it showed up yesterday! This month's theme is "The Look of Love". Woo!

This month reminds me of my very first Ipsy Glam Bag. I received all full sized items (besides the travel size acne spot corrector)!!! A subscription only costs $10 a month and I received over $50 in products. What a great way to kick off this month! One downfall was the glam bag itself. I thought it was just a bit...plain. I really was expecting something super cute for February. I did like the pink though. I just wish it had more of a design on the outside.

Pop Beauty Plump Pout Mini
City Color Be Matte Blush
Tini Beauty Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow + Base In One

Yes I love makeup but honestly I've hardly been using a lot of makeup products due to my face breaking out so easily. I'm not a fan of lip plumpers but I did love the color of the Pop Beauty plump. I received the color peony pink which I might just dab a bit on my lips for Valentine's Day. I love pink!

Blush is also another product that I've stopped using as it makes me look like a clown! Usually bright pink colors are the worst for my face so the Be Matte blush will probably be passed on. I love pink and all but this won't work. :(

I've fell in love with mineral eye shadows from a previous Ipsy bag so being introduced to a cream shadow was great. I've never tried one before but I loved the texture. The color was a big no for me. I'm not too fond of dark purples. I don't want to look as if I have a black eye! Just not a great color for my skin tone. Also I'm happy I checked the Ipsy website before I used this product because honestly I thought it was a lip gloss. Silly me.

Zoya Nail Polish
Dr. Lin Skincare Acne Spot Corrector

Nail polish is nothing new for me but I've always wanted to try Zoya polishes and now I finally have the chance! I really wished I received the pink color Ipsy had other glam bag subscribers try because purple really doesn't look great on me. Please no more purple products!

I'm very grateful for the Acne Spot Corrector. I really wish this had came sooner since it came with a coupon. I already purchased one from Sheseido with salicylic acid. I haven't used benezoyl peroxide on my face for quite some time so maybe this will be effective. And the fact that a coupon is included makes everything better.

I'm glad I was introduced to tons of new products. Also the deal was amazing this month! I just wish I had much better color options but since they're full size I can always pass them on to friends. I am disappointed with the bag itself. Nothing beats the December bag. Super classy. This one looked a bit cheap and plain. Oh well, I still can't wait for next month!

STEAMCREAM - Review & Giveaway

I received this product for review purposes.

Now here is a product that I've recently been introduced to and can honestly say I'm already in love with and happy to share. Hint: It's vegan! :)

Introducing STEAMCREAM, the award winning all-in-one natural moisturizer for your face, hands, and body! Here's a little background on STEAMCREAM for those of you who don't know. STEAMCREAM is a company who makes handmade creams in the UK and Japan using 100% vegan and natural ingredients (you can check out the ingredients here) that are fused together by a shot of steam, given the name STEAMCREAM. Now this is way different than your average body lotion/butter. The unique method that STEAMCREAM goes through makes their cream stand out and so much better than average. It's very lightweight and hydrating for the face. The texture is also great for your hands and body and suitable for all skin types. Your skin will be instantly moisturized and soft to the touch.

Did I mention that the ingredients are all natural? Well here is the proof! If you can't read the tin above you can check out the ingredients again here. Just to name a few, STEAMCREAM is compounded with the best quality ingredients that are natural and vegan such as oatmeal infusion, orange flower water, almond oil, and the list goes on. They come directly from sustainable sources and suppliers who comply with their non-animal testing policy.

P.S. - STEAMCREAM is an award winner! They won the Cosmetic Executive Women (UK) Award for "Best Everyday New Skincare" in 2010.

Now another cool thing about STEAMCREAM is the beautiful custom and collectible tins they all come in! Each tin has a background/story relating to the name. They're also eco-friendly limited edition tins that are designed by the company and even by other inspiring designers that they work with. I received the PurPure tin which is a limited edition and I don't believe it's available anymore so I was pretty lucky. Here's the description on the name below:
"PURPURE, or simply the colour purple, has been linked to the elite ranks of the Japanese imperial courts since the reign of the legendary regent and politician, Prince Shotoku (AD 572-622). The colour became clearly associated with authority and privilege".
When you're done with your STEAMCREAM you can use your tin for storing things and head on over to the website to order up a new one! How convenient is that? There are so many designs available that it may be hard to choose just one, you can check them out here.

Now onto my opinion on the cream itself. One word: amazing! It may look thick but its not as thick/greasy as body butter. It's really light and absorbs into your skin very quickly leaving your skin moisturized. It's great for these dry winter month's so I'll definitely be keeping this in my handbag. The scent also smells appealing. Not too strong but also doesn't have that "unscented" smell if you know what I mean.

Each tin contains 75 ml or 2.5 oz of cream. I know that it may seem like a small amount but trust me, you won't need too much due to the quality of the cream itself so it will last. 1 tin costs $20 and can be purchased on the STEAMCREAM website here. Shipping is free worldwide which is great! Now you can purchase and collect all of the tins that you like without worrying about shipping. My STEAMCREAM tin was shipped all the way from the UK so it took awhile for it to arrive but it's worth the wait!

Thank you STEAMCREAM for such an amazing product! Cheers!

Now for the surprise for you guys. If you read the title you would also know that in this post there is a giveaway for a lucky reader to win a tin all to themselves! The tin name/design is unknown so it'll be a surprise. Don't you just love the suspense?

Let me know what you guys like best about STEAMCREAM from my review. Tell me in the comments below! :)

Bellapulse Advanced Pulsar Technology - Review

I received this product for review purposes.

"It's the Dirty Litte Secret That Facial Cleanser Companies Don't Want You to Know..."

Introducing Bellapulse produced by SkinPro, the cleansing brush that can take your skincare routine to the next level. When it comes to cleaning your face, using a washcloth or by most popular, your fingertips won't do the magic. I'll explain how this brush can change your routine forever.

The Complete Bellapulse System:
Bellapulse Body
Bellapulse Exfoliating Brush
Bellapulse Cleansing Brush
Bellapulse Massaging Sponge
Bellapulse Massaging Applicator
Bellapulse Storage Cradle
Bellapulse Exfoliating Cleanser Set (valued at $75 includes the Rose Hip Seed Cleanser, AHA Exfoliating Cleanser, and Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer)

Two "AA" Batteries

Usually my morning and night routine is grabbing my favorite cleanser and applying it with my fingertips. I've noticed that it hasn't been effective and barely gets deep into my pores. Also I'll have dark splotches around my eyes from makeup which really sucks and sometimes doesn't get fully removed by my makeup remover. I used the bellapulse for about 2 weeks to see if it'll really make a change in my skincare routine and it has!

During the morning I use the rose hip seed cleanser and at night I use the AHA exfoliating cleanser along with the bellapulse brushes and moisturizer as directed. I've noticed that my face actually looks and feels clean without me trying to dig into my pores to get the day's gunk away. I've also been breaking out less and sometimes I'll use my own cleanser and the bellapulse system to keep my previous routine going.

I can honestly say that this will be a great investment for anyone who loves having a clean face, which should be everyone. You can save lots of time and so much money by getting a bellapulse. The company has a program called "Always Perfect" which will save you the hassle of reordering brushes, cleansers, and batteries too! By joining this program you will automatically receive a full set of brushes and the massaging applicator every 90 days. Also every 45 days, you'll receive new batteries, the massaging sponge, and the exfoliating cleanser set.

At the moment, the bellapulse system and the exfoliating cleanser set is all just $59.95. Now the price and program is such a great deal. Typically most electronic skincare cleansers are $$$+, not to mention that you usually have to purchase extra cleansers and brushes. I'm really happy that I've found this company and that they've given me the chance to review such a lovely product. I can't wait for my face to be clean and clear forever!

Sock of the Month Club - February 2014

The February 2014 socks from Sock of the Month Club showed up at my door yesterday and who would've thought I'd be so excited for a pair of socks. Well, I'm usually always excited for my subscription boxes. :)

Just to let you guys know, Sock of the Month Club is a subscription service who'll deliver the "finest socks" to you once a month for only $12 ($36 for 3 months, $72 for 6 months or $132 for 12 months) to the United States and Canada. You can check out my January review here

These are my February 2014 socks! They're made to make me feel like a queen (hint: the crowns). They're also the same material as my previous January 2014 pair and are made in America so they're great quality which can be rare to find.

Since it's winter, I love that the socks are tall so they're great for my boots. They fit well since they are sized to your feet and are stylish. I know that no one around me will have the same pair since they're unique to the Sock of the Month Club company. I genuinely love these socks and will be wearing them! The colors are so bright and I love the contrast between the blue and pink. Thank you Sock of the Month Club! My feet will definitely be toasty on this snowy day.

It's a Beautiful Day!

I'm mobile blogging once again but today was a great day (besides the snowy weather). I can't believe February is already here! It seems as if New Year's was just yesterday.

I decided to do something fun for the first day of the month. I headed over to Chapel Hills Mall where I made a visit to an art studio called Color Me Mine (of Colorado Springs). Sadly no shopping for me. I'm taking a break and saving more money by depositing into my savings account. Go me!

Color Me Mine was such a great experience. I remembered doing something similar when I was younger in my hometown New York City. You get to choose a ceramic piece that you would like to paint and get creative with it. I choose a heart (pictured above and below) since I believe February is the month of love. I absolutely love DIY projects.

I'm no artist so I can expect my piece to look very amateur-ish when it's ready for pick up. I dedicated my piece to my relationship with my boyfriend. I'll definitely share the finished product with you guys if it's not too embarrassing. I hope everyone is having a great Saturday! :)
