March Summary

I can't believe March will be over in the matter of hours. This month has been quite interesting. It has also been a great journey blogging again and yes it can get hard with finding time and energy but just clicking the "publish" button puts a smile on my face when I'm able to share something new with my readers.

Because I'm happy

This song typically sums up how I feel right now! Also I can't get it out of my head because my boyfriend sings along like all the time. I hope everyone is ending March on a good note. :) See you guys in April!

It's that time of the year for new updates! It's already spring so I thought I'd do some spring cleaning on my blog and have a new makeover. I'm looking forward to a big transition that I can stick with for quite some time.

Here are just a few updates I'll be working on:
  • New domain name
  • New template design/theme
  • New pages
  • New header image
  • New sidebar widgets
  • And many more to come!

I hope when it's all ready you guys will come to love it. Out with the old and in with the new!

Sally Hansen - Spring Fever

#ManiThursday anyone?

I'm so disappointed in myself for not posting a manicure to share with you guys in like forever! The thing is, I do my nails all the time. Literally! It's like a curse for me to have bare nails.

Ok back to #ManiThursday, I thought this design from Sally Hansen would be great and just in time for the beginning of spring. Woo! Spring fever.

The Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips are very similar to other nail polish appliques I've tried. It includes 16 nail strips in total (8 in each packet) which are 100% real nail polish. You'll know that right away once you open one of the sealed packet of nail strips. The unmistakable smell of nail polish will be revealed. It also includes a mini nail file/buffer, cuticle stick, and instructions to get you started.

I've gotta say that I loved the print spring fever. I just really wished I took my time applying the nail strips for a much better result. As you can see pictured above, I had a rough time smoothing the strips down which left tons of creases due to my own fault. Maybe next time I'll improve my nail application skills.

Overall I really enjoyed these and may purchase some more in the future. I gotta admit that Sally Hansen is a classic and they're much easier to find in stores and usually at reasonable prices too! Sorry for the horrendous pictures but I thought it would be fun to share. :)

Have a terrific Thursday!

Prep + Style + Finish

Hey guys!

So I've come to the conclusion that I'll never be able to blow dry my hair like a pro (unless I magically achieve that power sometime in the future). But...I believe I've gotten a little better thanks to blowpro

I came across these lovely products online at Amazon.com for the first time and I was immediately intrigued. Like many girls, I can go through a lot of hair spray and heat protectants since my hair is cut short and usually curly. I try to keep it that way for a long period of time through out the day since I'm pretty lazy. When it comes to my hair, I like to fix myself up in the morning once and only once. I hate going through touch-ups.

For the past two weeks, I've been using two (pictured above) of many blowpro products and I can say I'm at least 75% happier with my results.

Typically after washing and slightly towel drying my hair, I spritz on a bit of the blowpro heat is on protective daily primer. There are some pros and cons about this product in my opinion that I would like to share.

Pros:
  • Non-greasy
  • Detangles
  • Lightweight
Cons:
  • Dull
  • Dry
I'm honestly not so sure if it's working or if I'm supposed to be noticing any results. I do like the fact that it detangles my hair before I blow dry. I just really hate the dry/dull feeling my hair has after I blow dry. This will probably be much better if I use a moisturizer along with the primer. I can neither love or hate this product but I hope the dry/dull feeling goes away.

After blow drying my hair I turn to my blowpro blow out spray serious non-stick light hold hair spray. I don't know about you guys but I hate hair spray that leaves behind that crunchiness to your hair. Here are some pros and cons about this product in my opinion.

Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Non-greasy
  • No crunch
  • Holds
  • Reasonable smell
Cons:
  • Non-conditioning
So far the hairspray is my absolute favorite. At almost $20 a can, I can definitely say the price isn't but for my first time I have no regrets. It is truly lightweight which I love. Stiff/crunchy hair sucks! Also there is still a significant hold from the hairspray which is the main purpose of a hairspray after all so it works. I'm all up for smells, because I believe good smells are attractive. This hairspray doesn't have a rank smell like some others do. Actually I think it smells pretty "fresh". I don't mind it at all. My only problem is that blowpro claims that this hairspray is supposed to condition your hair but so far I don't feel as if it's working for me. There are soy and silk proteins listed in the ingredients but no conditioning going on over here!

I would recommend anyone to give this brand a try. Everyone is different so what may not have worked for me, may work for you. blowpro offers try + travel size options for more than half the price for those not ready to invest in the full size products. Sadly, not all of the products are available this way but the majority of them are! :)

Have you ever tried any blowpro products? If so, what do you think?

Hello Harvey Prince!

I received this product for review purposes.

Hello, Hello!

Introducing the all new Harvey Prince body cream collection featuring Hello - the scent that greets you with a smile!

I've tried tons of my favorite perfumes in the form or either a lotion or cream and this one is totally different. This body cream is thick enough that you may have to rub it in a while longer depending on how much you're trying to put on but it's definitely worth the time. It moisturizes well and the scent has got to be the best part! It's interesting that the color of the cream itself comes out yellow but don't worry, it won't yellow your skin, in fact it still blends and turns white like any normal body cream.

The ingredients are also fascinating. With coconut, olive and sweet almond oils, this cream is not oily but saturated throughout. I would recommend using it as only a "body" cream because of the infusion of perfume especially. If you have sensitive/combination skin like me, putting this cream on your face might not have a good outcome.

As with that being said, I'm not so sure if the Hello body cream is suitable for all skin types. It is gentle enough for everyday use, hypoallergenic, non-greasy and noncomedogenic so if you can fit into any of these categories I would say to give it a shot. You won't be disappointed!

Each bottle of Hello body cream is 12 fl oz (or 335 ml) which I believe is a lot when you think about the formula and quality. One bottle also costs $26 and can be purchases on the Harvey Prince website. Shipping prices may vary by location.

Harvey Prince was nice enough to include a perfume sample of the Hello perfume which is also infused in the body cream. This scent is absolutely alluring. It reminds me a lot of the spring season. I love citrusy scents so this definitely grabbed my attention. It's not a heavy robust smell. In fact it's really light and gives you a whiff of delightful freshness. I absolutely love this and will probably end up purchasing the full size or at least a travel size option to keep around with me.

I absolutely love the Harvey Prince story! I didn't know that it was founded by two brothers so it's true that you learn something new everyday. I can admit that they have some really great taste in aura for women. Thank you Harvey Prince for such an amazing product.

And now for a bonus for you guys!

Harvey Prince is giving not one, not two, but three lucky readers a chance to win a bottle of Hello body cream. Yay!

Wantable Intimates Box Review - March 2014

I received this product for review purposes.

Do you know what that "W" stands for?

It stands for Wantable

Introducing the Wantable subscription box where you can choose from a makeup, accessories or intimates box for only $36 (or $40 for a one time purchase)! I chose to review the intimates box this month which includes 4-5 premium essentials. The fun part about Wantable is that you can decide what you like and dislike so that Wantable can match your preferences. This means that you'll never receive anything you dislike!

Betsey Johnson Intimates Rayon Woven Shorts - $29

I absolutely love these pajama shorts. They're super fun to lounge around in. The woven rayon is lightweight and comfortable enough to sleep in. I also cherish the print and color! Just too cute.

Fleur't Basic Panty - $20

As much as I love panties in typically any style, this will not be a favorite pair of mine. The coral color is nice but the panty doesn't really stand out. Also for the price, I don't think it's worth it. The lace isn't as attractive as others that I own but I guess I can live with it. It is a basic after all and I can admit that they're comfy so I'll quit complaining. :)

Happy Socks Rose Socks - $12

Ankle socks are my ideal sock length choice but sadly Wantable only offered the option of what looked like tall and crew sock lengths. I really don't mind because these Happy Socks certainly caught my attention. I love the rose detailing and the socks are great in material. They're not too thin or thick so they will be perfect for boots especially since it's snowing in Colorado Springs at the moment. They will definitely keep my feet cozy and they're cute in style which is a great bonus!

Cotton Slub Racerback Tank - $8.49

This tank is a great basic to have for lounging. Not a fan of the jade color but it can be used for working out or just a staple piece. It may be a bit plain but it's homey!

Overall my attitude about this box is a thumbs up. I loved my new shorts and socks but I can't quite feel the same way about the panty and tank. Everything will be used but maybe next time I'll spend more time customizing my likes and dislikes so that I can make sure my box turns out even better. I received  $70 worth of essentials and the box itself only costs $36 which is tremendous in value. I would consider this box to be acceptable for anyone who likes new stuff. It's all customized to your taste so there's hope that you'll like the majority of what you receive. Sadly if you don't, you do have the option to return them. Also if you feel as if the "intimates" box isn't for you, you can choose from the makeup or accessories box for the same price. Shipping is free and you can cancel, return or skip anytime!

Darby Smart To DIY For Box - March 2014

I'm so excited! I received a email from Darby Smart a while back to enter for a chance to win a March "To DIY For" box which I did and recently this showed up on my doorstep. I was a lucky winner. Woo! Thank you Darby Smart!

For those of you who are not familiar with Darby Smart, it's definitely your new internet rehab in a box! This box in particular that I am reviewing is the monthly "To DIY For" box which gives you an exciting DIY project for only $19. Shipping is free but only available to the US.

In my box I received 2 bamboo cutting boards, one piece of scrap wood for testing, one wood burning hot pen, one dimensional fabric paint, and one pack of a 6x6 stencil to complete my project.

This month's project is making "Wood Burned Cutting Boards"!

The designer of this project is Darby Smart

There are step by step-by-step instructions/details on the back for helping you create your wood burned cutting board.

This project was a little harder for me than last month's ink blot coasters because of the fact that I have zero experience with wood burning. I can admit that I still had fun trying. I also can admit that I struggled somewhat trying to write with the wood burning hot pen. I decided to do something simple so that if I made a mistake, it wouldn't be such a big deal (and trust me, I hate making mistakes but everyone does). Thank goodness Darby Smart sent two cutting boards because the extra will definitely come in handy. The project time varied for whatever design you wanted to do. It probably took me about 15 minutes to do my design since it's technically not so much of a design at all.

I'm saving the other bamboo cutting board for later or maybe I'll have someone who has much better artistic skills to help me create a design that stands out.

This is the back of the cutting board (or at least I'm assuming it is).

Here's how my first bamboo cutting board turned out after burning it.

I don't hate it but I also don't love it. I really wish I had better skills to come up with something outstanding. I'm excited to check out the show room to look at other Darby Smart subscribers ideas and projects. For a first time using a wood burning hot pen, I can say that the project idea was pretty great. I doubt I would've ever brainstormed this project idea on my own.

I can say that I officially love Darby Smart boxes and I really hope I'll have a chance to win another box in the future. Each "To DIY For" box cost only $19. The next box ships April 11th so I advise anyone who is interested to hurry because they tend to sell out pretty quickly.

P.S - There are tons of other DIY projects available on the Darby Smart website that you can check out. Prices vary depending on the project but I'm sure they'll all be worth it. :)

Birchbox - March 2014

Woo-hoo! My Birchbox arrived on my birthday (two days ago) which was lovely! I love checking out the sneak-peek videos on YouTube hoping to receive the best products. This month's theme is Spring Forward. Here's a peek:

It's March and spring is almost here! It's time to improve fresh daily routines, beauty shortcuts and overall getting more out of everything. It's going to be a great season!

This is what's included in my box this month:

There were pros and cons to this box but I can say that I was excited to see a full size item again from INIKA.

I received (from left to right) Keims Cleanshine Energizing Shampoo, Jurlique Purely Bright Radiance Serum, Jurlique Purely Bright Cleanser (beauty extra), Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion, INIKA Eyeliner in Green Lagoon, and a lifestyle extra treat from Ghiradelli.

Off the back I've gotta say that my favorite this month is the INIKA eyeliner. Not only is it full size but it's a product that is used with natural and organic ingredients. It's vegan too! The color is a beautiful green that will be great for spring. I also love that it comes with a sharpener lid for when the point goes dull which is wonderful. This would go great with the INIKA mineral eyeshadow I got full sized from Birchbox in December.

I don't mind getting shampoos to try since I'm still on the hunt for a shampoo that can do wonders for my hair. The Keims Cleanshine Energizing Shampoo has a great fresh minty scent that I know I'll love to have in my hair.

I was pretty disappointed in the Jurlique samples due to the size because I especially love skincare products. These definitely won't last long but it's great to try something new.

The Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion was a generous size to add to my cosmetic bag and overall is a great lotion for your skin. Not too greasy and smells pretty good!

Not a bad box this month. I'll be looking forward to next month for sure. Hopefully more full sized items will be added. I also should take a look into updating my profile to get matched more efficiently.

Here's everything that was included in my box to shop for as full sized items in the Birchbox shop.

Ipsy - March 2014

Yay, my Ipsy Glam Bag arrived today! It's like an early birthday present. I'm excited! The cosmetic bag is way too cute which is why I had to show you guys this first. The print is a selection from artist "Klari Reis". I love that Ipsy is having an artist series for their glam bags. I can't wait to see more! This month's theme is "Destination Beauty". Check it out!

This bag comes off to me as very experimental. I don't find that bad at all. Just like last month, I received over $50 worth of items. A subscription only costs $10 so I definitely love being spoiled. The downside for this month was that there was only four items (five in quantity) to try. Two of them are full sized which is still great.

Chella Indigo Blue Eyeliner
Klorane Smoothing and relaxing patches with soothing cornflower

Being introduced to makeup products is fine by me. I've never heard of the brand Chella but I do love eyeliner (besides my love for mascara). It's interesting that I received the color indigo blue. Ipsy has introduced me to tons of different shades of eyeliner besides my basic black which I've always eventually come to love. This would be a great color for this season! I can't wait to use it and maybe add it to my beauty routine.

I'm not too sure if the Klorane eye contours are for me but it may come in handy one day so I'll probably keep these in my medicine cabinet for whenever I have a "puffy" eye day.

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Rebel
Be a Bombshell Bora Bora Eyeshadow Quad

I've always wanted to try a bareMinerals product so I was pretty excited to see this in my glam bag. Not too happy about the color for my complexion but maybe if I mix it with another color it won't be so bad since it's just lipgloss.

Honestly, I'm getting a bit tired of seeing Be a Bombshell products. It was fun to try at first but it's getting a bit repetitive and I would love to see other brands. The eyeshadows are pretty so thumbs up to that. I just wish I was exposed to a different brand other than Be a Bombshell.

Overall this bag was fun to try. The cosmetic bag is probably my second favorite of all my Ipsy cosmetic bags. Nothing beats the December cosmetic bag so far. I'll always be looking forward to next month!

Colorado State University - Pueblo

Just last Friday I was able to take a visit with Andrew and his dad to our potentially future college, Colorado State University - Pueblo. It was such an experience all in a few hours! It's literally less than an hour away from my home which is great so that I can possibly visit my family on the weekends. It was also my first time visiting Pueblo which is just a city south of Colorado Springs.

I'm planning on majoring in Mass Communications because of my passion for Journalism and my dream to become a future Editor-in-Chief for Teen Vogue Magazine. I learned a lot of new info and it just really got me excited to attend this fall.

I'm still debating on other college related things especially dorm prices. They're super expensive and my tuition is already over $10000+. My mom came up with a really cool idea of me having my own apartment outside of campus but close enough to commute everyday. The downfall of this is that I'll be living alone outside of campus. :(

I met a really nice girl named Ashleigh who is literally my twin from afar. We have so many similarities and could be potential roommates if I decided to live on campus. Living on campus will be a plus for making friends easier. I would hate to be anti-social.

I only have a few months to make a decision. It's all so exciting and can be so stressful at the same time. I can't wait to get settled. It'd be new and fun to decorate my future dorm or apartment. I can't wait!

Your #NoFilter Life With Olay Fresh Effects!

I received this product for review purposes.

Do you want to achieve fresh and radiant skin?

Well now you can with the all new products from Olay Fresh Effects!

Typically it's a struggle for me to remove my eyeliner and mascara completely at the end of the day. With these pre-moistened cloths, I can easily remove my eye makeup without having to fully scrub my face with a facial cleanser. What also makes this product stand out is the essence of honeysuckle and white tea infused in each cloth. This makes using the product a blast. Not only will you be removing your makeup easily but you'll also be making your skin happy with a fresh scent!

I absolutely love these cloths. They're definitely not your average cleansing cloths. These cloths are dual sided! There's a textured side for exfoliating, and a smooth side to get your daily dirt and grime of the day away. Just like the makeup removal cloths, these are also infused with honeysuckle and white tea for a pick-me-up.

It's never a bad day for sunscreen. This one doesn't leave that greasy "sticky" feeling on your skin and moisturizes your face.  It's oil free so your pores won't be clogged throughout the day. Knowing you're protected and left with a silky smooth face is a win-win situation. This is just one of many products that's also infused with honeysuckle and white tea so you get to smell good, be protected and feel amazing. Definite bonus!

These beauties are a must have in your bathroom. You have a swirl of cleanser and exfoliator to treat your skin. It pumps out as a "creamy" substance and you can feel the microbeads powering up while you wash your face. It has a rich formula and the scents are alluring. There are three different refreshing scents to try. Pictured above (from left to right) I received the honeysuckle and white tea, and white grapefruit and green tea. There's also a green apple and jasmine tea available which I'll definitely be on the lookout for in stores.

For those of you who love dewy skin you'll also love this moisturizer! It's hydrating with a light feel, oil free so it won't clog your pores, and smells great since it's infused with honeysuckle and white tea. It may look a bit oily once you apply it but it'll eventually absorb into your skin and leave a smooth finish that can last for up to 24 hours.

I'm one of many who can eventually have dark circles around my eyes. Usually it's from leftover mascara that I didn't get off so once I washed my face and applied this cream I can definitely see a difference. The tri-roller ball has a cooling feeling and the cream itself hydrates the skin which makes your eyes appear brighter. It's infused with honeysuckle, white tea and cucumbers to wake you up!

Overall I'm in love with the new Olay Fresh Effects collection. I think it's a great added bonus to my skincare routine this season. I don't typically wear tons of makeup so this will give my natural look a boost which I'm looking forward to. Thanks Olay!

You can find these products at your local Target, Walmart, CVS/pharmacy. Prices may vary for each product in stores or online.

Victoria's Secret PINK - Rose Lace Collection

Have you heard or tried Victoria's Secret PINK's latest Rose Lace collection?

I absolutely love Victoria's Secret, as it's typically one of my go-to lingerie stores. I tend to shop more in the Victoria's Secret PINK section because it comes off to me as more fun and less racy for my age. When I'm not stocking up on body mists, bras, panties, etc, I really like to check out new arrivals for the season.

Recently Victoria's Secret PINK announced their all new Rose Lace Collection which included new plunge bras, bralettes, and cheeksters. I figured I'd share my recent purchase for those of you unaware of the collection and also for lingerie lovers like me!

I purchased the Rose Lace Plunge Bra in black which had a cheetah print pattern. There are many colors available and sizes run from XS-L. Prices range from $24.50 - $26.50 depending on color/pattern.

I run more on the smaller side but the smallest size available in store was a small at the moment. A Victoria's Secret consultant convinced me that a small would work for me since it's adjustable. It's super comfortable and not your average bralette. I love that there is a back clasp with 3 hook-and-eye closure options and adjustable straps. The low lace plunge neckline it perfect for any wear including v-neck shirts. Because of the lace straps in the front it may be difficult to wear hidden under thin strap blouses. The bra itself is unlined but still gives a bit of a lift.

I love this bra and will recommend it for anyone. It works for me and my smaller cups and the pretty rose lace is to die for!

I also picked up the matching Rose Lace Cheekster Panty because who doesn't like matching sets?  My favorite panty style are the cheeksters because of their comfortable fit.

I warn you that this is not your ordinary cheekster. The fit is similar to a hipster but has more cheek in the back which still gives you a comfortable fit through out. They're priced at $9.50 for one but you can never beat the 5 for $26 deal!

P.S - If you become a PINK Nation member, you get exclusive access to goodies, offers, and events in-store and online!

What do you like about the Rose Lace Collection?

The Beauty Authority

Shopping is a virtue and with the new season coming forth it's also a must!

I recently made a simple purchase at one of my favorite beauty stores, Sephora of course! Since my birthday is literally in 5 days I really wanted some new nail polish appliques since I don't have much time on my hands to go to a nail salon and because I'm a beauty insider I also had the chance to receive my deluxe birthday gift.

I found some really cute TRENDTIPS from Sephora by OPI that happened to be on sale for only $6 online. They reminded me so much of the Incoco nail polish appliques I used a while back and absolutely loved.

I chose the "Feathers" an "Floral" TRENDSTIPS to try and I'll definitely post a "review" on them when I get a chance to show you how they actually look on my nails and if they're worth it which I'm hoping they totally are.

For 2014, Sephora's birthday gift are the deluxe minis from MAKE UP FOR EVER. This set includes the rouge artist natural lipstick and smoky extravagant mascara minis. The set is free during your birthday month so I made sure to grab mine at checkout.

A perk for shopping at Sephora online is that you can choose 3 samples to add to your order for free! These samples are updated daily for when new ones arrive or if others are out of stock. It's great to test things out before purchasing full size products. Some of my favorite products today started out as samples so you never know what you'll find and soon love.
The idea of this post today was not to brag about my purchase, trust me! I actually have a new self-sponsored giveaway to announce that relates to Sephora. Since spring is coming up and most of us like to change or update our beauty/skincare routine I figured that a giftcard to my favorite store can help out! I managed to save up some money for my blog to host a giveaway for a $50 giftcard to Sephora. Don't worry if you don't have a Sephora nearby. You can always order online which can actually work out to be great since some items are not available in stores that are online and vice versa.

What will you purchase with a Sephora giftcard?

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I've really got to find some free time and ASAP! I can't believe I'll be visiting my possibly future college that I'll be attending this fall on Friday. I'm a bit nervous but also pretty excited. My boyfriend and I will be attending so I think that'll calm me down a bit. To prep, we are definitely hitting the mall tomorrow. That usually means excitement, loss of money, and more things to share! Stay tuned. I know I'll definitely have a surprise for you guys that I'll be announcing soon. You won't want to miss it! :)

I Know It's Monday But...

I know how Monday's may feel to some people and it's not always great but I really hope everyone is having a great day today. I decided to share this quote/picture I found on Pinterest. Not sure who the original owner is but it's inspirational and so true.

Everyday we inch closer and closer to spring. The weather is warming up and soon flowers will be blooming so there should be no reason not to be happy! At least in my opinion. :)

For Skin That Looks As Fresh As A Daisy!

I received this product for review purposes.

How can we possibly leap into spring without STEAMCREAM? You're right, we can't!

STEAMCREAM is one of many companies who are revealing new spring arrivals that are blooming this March and this tin just happens to be one of them. Introducing the "Precious" tin! Here's the description on the tin below:
"Scattered in a combination of fuchsia, lilac and pale pink flowers PRECIOUS is a beautiful bouquet of blossoms packed with fresh skin-loving ingredients. A bunch of flowers that will hydrate your skin and won't dry out after just a few days? Yes please!"
If you're unfamiliar with the brand and their lovely tins, check out my previous review here to see what it's all about!

New tin design, same all natural moisturizer for your face, body, and hands handcrafted in the UK and Japan. You can also check out the ingredients here. Remember, all of the ingredients are natural and vegan. They come from sustainable resources and suppliers and can be used for every age and skin type head to toe.

Did you know that STEAMCREAM is an award winner? They won the Cosmetic Executive Women (UK) Award for "Best Everyday New Skincare" in 2010.

I am in love with the Precious tin design just as much as I love the cream itself. The floral print and colors are just perfect for the upcoming spring season.

The cream itself is still just as amazing as when I first tried it. It's super moisturizing and lasts for a long time without needing to apply more every five minutes. It has that lightweight texture which keeps your skin soft and smooth. I tend to keep my tin in my handbag and use it more for my hands than anything else.

1 tin only costs $20 but it does last since you won't need to overload yourself with it. 2.5 oz or 75 ml may barely seem like much but trust me, it's more than enough. You can purchase the Precious tin here or check out other designs available for purchase here. Shipping is free worldwide so don't worry about it! Go grab yourself a STEAMCREAM tin today. :)
